So much for solid wood cabinet doors. MDF on my 2023 Newmar New Aire cabinet doors.

Yeah so I went back and looked at the cabinet door. They installed the plastic sleeves for a reason, that reason being screws alone don't do well in MDF. You'd think they'd have taken similar precautions with the strut. The plastic sleeves are a good idea however.

Its a press fit like the plastic wall board anchors, when screwed in it expands slightly. These days almost every cabinet shop orders their doors to size. These shops line bore the cabinet doors and holes for these bushings. Many new cabinet doors use these nowadays.
