This thread is to document your ideas for Newmar to read. This is not a complaint thread but a constructive idea thread if you come up with ideas to improve or innovate. Newmar seems to have responded to my thread posted on IRV2 of this nature, let's continue it here.

EDIT: A new system is in place and the Newmar Suggestions is now a dedicated forum using the new voting system by this forum'ware. Please create a NEW THREAD for each suggestion. Do not reply to an existing post with your suggestion.

Many posts/suggestions have no been moved to their own threads so some of the dialog below will be confusing

Great list! Thanks for all the good ideas. Since we already have our coach, we'll just make this out "mod list."

I’ve got a gas coach now, on the same F53 chassis. I installed a Safe-T-Plus, Helwig rear sway bar, Sumo shocks, and Bilstein shocks. I find that the F53 chassis is extra sensitive to tire pressure with regards to handling, and keep a close eye on it via my TPMS, topping it off as needed. I did install the Dynamat under my doghouse and on the firewall under the dash; big improvement. I did answer you on that “other” forum on how to remove your doghouse...

Safety
- Integrated TPMS across all lines as a standard option with the ability 4 extra sensors included to also monitor a tow vehicle. This is 100% a safety issue.

I’ve made this same point on other forum but I think asking Newmar to throw in the toad sensors is a stretch. They finally have this on the DS, but they need to push it on down the line for ALL coaches.

- Include a rubber block for diesel park brakes to block brake release and prevent it from being released by accident when engine is off.

Love this.

- Clear acrylic cover over jack control pad to prevent pets from accidentally setting it off

Makes sense.

- Self-weighing capability - it would be awesome for the rig to be able to look at a gauge and know all of my weights, including four corner weight at any time.

It might be awesome but me thinks this is a stretch. $$$

- HID Headlights with cornering on all models: These things ain't cheap. They should have good headlights.

Absolutely. Not unique to a Newmar, but they should take the lead to fix this.

- Docking lights standard: Every RV made should be required to have docking lights. It's just safety.

Yep.

- Integrate seatbelts into the seats themselves: Don't attach them to the wall. My seat is bolted to the chassis. My wall is held up by aluminum studs. I trust my seat to keep me in my rig a lot more than I trust my sidewall.

They have fixed this on DS, not sure where we are on other brands.

- Stop blocking the emergency egress in the rear with the toilet. The DSDP 4081 and 4020 rear bath layouts are the only layouts that doesn't do this.

One reason I’ve ordered a 4081.

- Integrated dash cam with side cams and rear cam all feeding into a central DVR, accessible by a smartphone, tablet or computer via in-coach wifi.

Would be very helpful when some clown cuts you off and causes an accident.

- Give passenger popup screen on right side under window to monitor cameras, control music and otherwise be a good co-pilot.

This one really bothers me because they have it on the high-line and they refuse to allow it as an option on a DS. The competition (Entegra) has it on all their top three brands.

Comfort/Convenience

- Modern infotainment systems. No quarter-million dollar+ coach should come with infotainment from the late 1990's. Minimum 8" screens but honestly, the larger the better. Anything with CarPlay, AndroidAuto or Android Automotive would be fine for most.

Absolutely agree. They finally got 4K on the 2020’s just as Samsung started shipping 8K.

- Include a 16' telescoping ladder with coach

Really? I would settle for a telescoping ladder storage shelf. All that space above the rails could sure use standard built in shelf option.

- Include a Generator Hours display inside coach

Make it an option and I’m ok with this. I would not pay for it. I don’t need this info all that often.

- No more WiFi Ranger. Install commercial-grade solutions such as Pepwave BR1 MK2. You could even install the Winegard RV TOGO. WiFi Ranger belongs nowhere near Newmar products

Well, if that’s your opinion, don’t buy WiFI Ranger option. They do offer a WiFi Ranger prep which probably could be used for those alternate solutions.

- Remote Dump Controls - Create options to be able to dump tanks from inside the coach. Extra credit if you allow the tanks to dump automatically at a certain level. In both cases, these mechanisms should be required to be explicitly turned on when hooking up by the operator and should automatically be disabled when the RV sewer is no longer hooked up and/or the ignition is on.

As long as it’s an OPTION, I’m in.

- Roof Conduit as Standard - Every unit should have an unused 1" conduit from the overhead driver's cabinet to the roof for the owner to run new wires.

Absolutely should be standard feature.

- Soft close overhead cabinets - they slam shut loudly and abruptly. I've pinched my fingers in them a couple times.

Really? They have soft close drawers on theDS now, but these would IMO, add too much costs.

- Option for a built-in whole-coach reverse osmosis system with a bypass option for when I trust the source

OK if it’s an option.

- Option for a built-in water softener

OK if it’s an option.

- Gravity fill for fresh water tank

How come I had this on both my 20XX Monaco’s and Newmar can’t seem to offer this?

- Slides should emit an audible warning or stop moving inward if Driver or Passenger Chair are in the way and would be damaged. On models where damage to baggage doors might occur, slides should emit an audible warning and not move if those baggage doors are open.

Might be nice, but strikes me as one more complication to require repair. I mean, how hard is it to eyeball this stuff before you hit the slide button.

- Fix the external Microwave Vent issue in Production. I shouldn't have had to fix that at FPU/CPU. It's an easy fix. Do it in production.

Makes sense. They charge $426 for this Special on a DS. No excuse for not doing it right every time. They should also make this a listed option and not a Special so those of us who think $426 is a ridiculous price for a hole in the sidewall won’t waste time putting it on our specials request list

- Reduce the depth of the valances: They don't need to be so honking big and bulky - why are they so bulky? They don't need to be that big to hide the shades. So, much wasted space. It's crazy.

- Four burner induction option: 2 burners isn't always enough for a full-timing family.

Wouldn’t buy it myself, but makes sense.

- Boondocker's Package: Very robust solar implementation with a large battery bank, whole-coach reverse osmosis and larger fresh, black and grey water tanks.

Yep, I wonder if anyone actually buys the current solar option.

- Maintenance Free Batteries: No more battery watering. Use AGM, Li-Ion or others battery types as appropriate.

Well the DS has AGM now and Lithium is a big step up cost wise. I think if they offered Lithium at a reasonable costs as an option, some folks would buy that. I’ve seen cases where buyers have essentially “scrapped” perfectly good brand new AGM batteries to replace with Lithium.

- Install Air Boosters so that on-board compressors can be used to fill tires to 125psi in a reasonable amount of time

Acceptable as an option. Some folks, like me, would always prefer a stand-alone compressor.

- AirForce 1 prep option for Freightliners: Install the coach side AF1 equipment at the factory and hand over the vehicle-side AF1 components at delivery

On the air jack, they could have this tomorrow if they just wrote it into the chassis spec. Spartan must be throwing this in on their own.

The AF1 would be ok as an option. Lots of folks have alternative auxiliary brake solutions they prefer.

- Pull down lanyards on manual MCD shades

Ok.
Overall, I love Mapnerd’s list, but wanted to add a few comments.... see above.

Thanks for the feedback @deaton. I will continue to revise my list as I discover more about my rig and others. @Neal I wonder if anyone at Newmar has been alerted to the existence of this forum. It would be great to see @Newmar respond to things.

Only the NKK so far (and they haven't responded) but I'll reach out to Newmar soon.

Having been on IRV2 since 2010, I can’t remember ever seeing Newmar (or any other manufacturer for that matter) responding directly to any posts on the forum.

That said, there is lots if evidence that somebody at Newmar does read these postings as shown by all the suggestions that have appeared in postings that have later been incorporated into new offerings.

The closest I have ever seen to a direct response is when Tom Chelbana (Newmar Man) organized a gathering at one if the Newmar International rally’s (I think it was Gillette, WY) where we had over 100 IRV2 members in a conference room with Matt Miller for a direct question and some answers session. Good stuff.

Tom claims to have a back door line to some in Newmar management and I have no reason to doubt that’s the case.

Maybe we can be the first! It would certainly be a big feature if we could get them to reply using company handles. They've all got PR/Media teams, I don't see why we couldn't just reach out to them and offer it up. On a thread like this, maybe they would never say anything at all, which I'd understand but in other threads where people are reporting problems, they could certainly respond and tell that person to DM them.

I've started reaching out to the commercial reps, vendors, etc. and I will certainly reach out to Newmar execs in time.

Install 240V outlet for the clothes Dryer and choose 240V dryers over 120V versions. There are more options available and they will dry better.

Consider brands such as LG and Samsung for your coaches that may have a better reputation and quality.
I guess it can’t hurt but fwiw, we use our splendide washer and dryer almost daily. No issues at all...knock on wood
