At what predicted wind speed would you consider bringing in your slides?

Hmmm...guess I never thought about it It would have to be close to hurricane winds (65+/- knts) for me to consider pulling in the wall slide. Everything else would be up however. Awnings, TV antennas, tables, chairs, etc..., but the slide...just don't think so. Waiting for others to educate me on this

With my 2013 DSDP, I had the carefree style awnings. These would spool and unspool with winds >=25mph. Once This happened too frequently, I pulled the slide in.

With my 2019 DSDP and the Girard awnings over the slides, they never had the spooling issue. I would be in line with @Scooterfan on the winds of 65+/- knots---but maybe I am doing more than just slides at that point.

If you're concerned, bring them in. The slide topper noise will drive you crazy as well as your fear. Your peace of mind is not measured in wind speed.

We have had some of them out in 80+mph wind. It really depends on the direction of the wind in relation to the coach. Sometimes 40-50 is too much, sometimes not. If the toppers aren’t going too crazy you should be ok.

We are supposed to getting winds around 40 mph out of the northeast, which is directly abeam of my FWS. I have the Carefree toppers and have seen those in action before. Thanks for the inputs.

Sailor talk I can understand. Please let us know what you do (did) and how it worked out because for me this is a "teaching moment" Taking wind directly abeam should lessen it's impact IMHO. Now, the "cold" part of your original post (are you going to get the snow everyone is predicting?) could inspire me to pull in the slide (less footage to heat).

Abeam of the slide should not be a problem.

My rig is facing into the wind and the slide toppers almost drove me crazy last night in 30 mph winds.

Keep in mind the weight of the DO’s will handle a lot more than the relatively light weight gassers.

Typical as the wind wants to billow up the toppers making them go nuts. With the wind abeam the toppers are not nearly as affected.

I've been bringing the windward slide(s) in at about 20mph...it's a noise thing, The downwind side is not a problem.
