    adding solar to roadtrek

I just purchased a 2018 Roadtrek Simplicity SRT. I would like to add solar and would like to do it myself. I was going to buy a two panel kit, but it comes with items that are already included in the vehicle. Any recommendations?

    Advice to Upgrade House Batteries

Hi Everyone. New to this forum. I bought a new KZ Durango Gold G382MBF fifth wheel last year, 2025 year model. It came with a solar package that has 2x 200watt solar panels, a 30A MPPT solar charge controller and a 2000 watt sine wave inverter. To be honest, I don't really know what any of that...

Feedback Sought - Solar Install Companies - Comparison Of 3 Options

Hi. I’m seeking feedback on the 3 seeming best companies I’ve found to install solar in my van. Please let me know which one you would pick. I am not very knowledgeable about solar so your help is appreciated. Please note many recommend install companies in Quartzsite, Arizona but those places...

Ready to buy new Class B...but solar questions

I am totally committed to buying a new Class B RV, and am leaning toward one of the Thor models with the newest solar technology. The major choices seem to be a 200 vs. 400 vs. 800 Amp-hour. If I cannot find one on a lot (very limited selection in my area), then I am willing to special order...

R1T and Pebble Flow - First Journey

So, during winter storage, do you keep the trailer plugged into a L2 charger, use the L1 charger, etc.? If garaged (?) I assume the solar is no help for trickle charging to keep the batteries alive.

    Inverter vs solar generator

...and are greenhorns at it. Camper will stay year round on our vacation property and used as an off grid setup. I am leaning towards a Titan Solar generator vs a dual fuel invertor generator for a lot of reasons…gas, noise, having to fill it in the middle of the night, etc… Being that our...

    2018 RoadTrek CS Adventurous

...to this forum and was hoping someone out there may be able to give us some advice on what to do next. We have the EcoTrek 800 watt lithium solar package. Our batteries are at 78%, but the VoltStart generator keeps kicking in every 15 minutes or so. My husband tried all of the...

    Alert Battleborn battery safety alert

I went with reviews by people that actually use the batteries. Solar forums are full of them. I got a cheap Chinese battery for less then $200 when BB was $840+. It has been great. Now, I use my battery about like Neal, but that is about to change. I am heading to the Q next week and I have put...

CA strikes again with CARB ACT

...right banned or denied, that is where I start looking for the cash flow as to why its being denied. During the day and moderate temperatures, solar and wind add a lot off capactiy to the grid. Neither form addresses the night, cold, or stormy weather conditions when power is still very much...

    Question Roof solar pre-wire access

In the photo below is the marked area where I should find the solar pre-wire? I understand one needs to drill thru the roof covered by the metal plate to access the solar pre-wire?

    Summer heat

...and places like that, I have an onboard generator and this year will have my inverter generator mounted(already) on my trailer. Plus the solar setup, which I have not built to run the AC unit. But it can for a short while. I guess I will be chasing the 70's as they say also. But s**t happens...

Solar panels / charger doing what it is supposed to?

I recently purchased a new 2023 New Aire 3543 with their factory installed 640W of Lithionics batteries and 400W of GoPower solar with a Schneider Electric (Xantrex) C40 DVM solar charger. For the life of me it either displays 0 watts or 13 watts, with a solid green status light during the day...

Question Isolating coach batteries from house batteries.

...of anyone with an alternator failure due to LiFePO4 batteries? I'll gladly replace the alternator and then make necessary changes if needed. However, I also have solar so my house batteries can be maintained by solar vs. alternator. But IMHO these alternators are a lot more rugged than we think.

    12 volt refrigerator

Boondocking out west is out ultimate goal and was a major factor when we were looking for an RV. You read all the time how well solar works, but I was never convinced enough to invest in a solar system. After a lot of research, pros and cons, these were the factors, silly or not, that we felt...

    Solar power

Solar won't pay for itself. When I stayed at Casa Grande for two winters where we pay for electricity I tried using solar to offset costs. It's not worth it. In the end the electricity is not that expensive.
