I apologize crow3051 for getting off track on your original post.
Kevin, you can complain, post negative comments, gripe, and stay upset at the RV industry for having low quality and subpar quality control, or you can just learn to fix things as you go along, do preventive maintenance, and...
I normally try to discourage anyone from moving to Florida. We are still averaging over 1,000 people moving here a day. I would rather have snowbirds because then they contribute to our tax base but leave for 6 months. But, you can't have everything......so any of you folks from California...
I guess the difference in my outlook and yours Kevin is that I decided to accept that lower priced RVs meant lower quality RVs. Having sold, traded, and bought 5 different RVs since 2011 I don't have vast experience on the subject though. I do know that my new 2017 Newmar 4369 was the highest...
Here is an update....the rest of the story....
So after the county Veterans Resource Officer filed my claims they came back approved. I received 10% tinnitus, 10% for high blood pressure, and 10% for migraines. In the explanation the VA said Agent Orange caused both the high blood pressure...
After owning 2 used RVs (one fiver and one gas coach) and 3 new RVs (two fivers and one triple axle diesel pusher) I can honestly say that new and used RVs all take constant maintenance and repairs. It is the "nature of the beast" so to speak.
I will admit that my MSRP $300,000+ Newmar DP took...
We probably burned ourselves out on "something small". While waiting for our place to get done we sensed that the market for used 1-ton trucks was peaking and the RV market was still doing good (late 2022). We decided to sell our F350 dually and our triple axle toy hauler fiver. We came out...
Darrell, sounds like you guys are doing exactly what you want to do. I guess that is what retirement is all about.
When your time comes to set that parking brake for the last time, pick your sticknbrick location carefully. We are in a gated 55 and over community. Even though we have only...
We traveled full time in a few different RVs from 2012 until 2023. There was an interruption from 2015-2017 because we stumbled across a good deal on a home in SW Florida. However, after a couple years off the road we missed it. When we discovered how much that Florida home had appreciated...
We have visited the Loxley area at least once per year, which is just up the road. We have good friends there. We always stayed at Azaela Acres in Robertsdale AL.
I personally love that whole area. There is a lot of great motorcycle riding and things to see and experience. We have visited...
I guess I have the "ultimate" concealed carry as a retired LEO. However, that being said I still am aware that I can't stop at a military installation and run into the PX while armed.
As far as RVing with a firearm? I would never consider traveling without being armed in todays world. Of...
Even though you are not very tall or long, I would suggest purchasing a Trucker's Atlas from a local truck stop. It is a great way to review routes and double check on any restrictions when towing any load.
Several years ago we went through the same issue at a Park (Upriver RV Resort) in North Ft. Myers. We had been staying there for 3 winters and averaged 4 or 5 months each season. Not only did they keep raising their rates but it became a bidding war for sites. In other words, if you signed up...
I went through the same issue with my Cyclone 44' TH and my Harley Trike. I could barely clear the top of the ramp without bottoming out, but I would drag my pipes when initially going up the ramp.
The only solution I found was to raise the front of my TH as high as I could. If I was still...
We were only RVing since around 2011 (just gave up full timing 10/2023). In some circles I would be considered a newby. However, I learned very quickly that RVs are not generally built to the same standards as either automobiles or sticknbrick homes, and most RV techs have zero training.
If...
Between my service time (1970-1973) I of course flew on a regular basis both on military aircraft and commercial. After discharge (LEO) I had to fly on official business several times and I can recall that the only thing I needed to get through the gate and onto the aircraft with my loaded...
We tried a gas coach once and it was a Thor Challenger 37'. If my memory is correct it was a 2015. We purchased it slightly used.
The Ford motor was okay and I could easily change my own oil which was a plus. It was a white knuckle driving experience with 15mph or higher crosswinds. I...
X3 with the over 30% discount right now. Ten months ago we purchased our final RV while waiting for the house to be finished. I got it for over 30% off. It is still in perfect condition, looks brand new, and of course has a couple months left on warranty. It has been on RVTrader for a month...
If we were to purchase another Newmar DP the deciding factor would not be one of reliability or warranty when considering new or used. Things are going to break and wear items are going to have to be replaced no matter if your unit is a 2024 or a 2015.
Currently it appears the used RV market...
I agree with most of what has been suggested. I'll just toss out another possibility on getting DEF. When we were full time I started having issues buying DEF in containers. The seals wouldn't look right or appear to have been opened. Of course like many Newmar DP owners I didn't want to...
Yep, pretty much what Rick said. US-231 south from Montgomery is almost all 4-lane and newer pavement. You go through numerous small towns but if you aren't in a hurry it is a nice route. Sometimes we have taken I-10 all the way to I-75 but on occasion we will cut across on RT-19. Safe travels.
