Has anyone gone in through the hood to remove the filter, instead of from underneath by removing the right front wheel cowling?

I just did mine from the top. Use a step and lean over the right side fender. No problem. Allthough Napa Gold filter was $107. Fleetguard wasn't even available due to so called shortages.
