This is about the console next to the passenger front seat. I took the console off of the wall to add an additional power port for our Garmin 875 GPS. In the bottom of the console I noticed an orange wire and a white wire coiled up and lying in the bottom of the console. Does anyone know the destination of these wires since they were not attached to anything in the console? They seem to be factory-installed wires since they went through the wall to an unknown terminus.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Curiosity is getting the best of me.

Red and White are your typical 12V power / ground. I think orange may go to a relay or basement, I don't know what orange goes to...

This is so very typical of newmar. There are many wires just hanging around, If you have been to newmar factory tour, you would see this in live action. After the frame is built(welded) to the chassis, or there abouts, the unit is pushed over to the elec wire dept. The 'elec guy' grabs a hand full of wires and pulls them from the front of the coach all the way thru various locations. the wires are secured in some places and left in there for the remaing production line to complete. What ever wire is 'not needed' is just terminated. There are also wires that are likely too short, and those are patched up to make the proper length. IF you look around, you are likely to find some of those as well. btw (as an fyi), some of those patched up wires 'may' end up with a different color, than the original wire.

could be the wires to a switch for an option like “Recessed Docking Lights”. There’s always wiring for options in the harness whether the options are ordered or not.

The orange wire runs to the mid bath 12v panels, and then to the peg board bay. It is not used.

Here is a picture of what is behind the peg board.

Thank you Redbaron, I will check it out. I'm assuming you mean the curb side bay with pegboard in front of water tank. I would prefer there be a dedicated 12volt line to the console .I will take the peg board down and check it out. The factory could not help me. My previous RV was a Dynamax Dynaquest XL with a Intech stacker. I downsized to the DS and a Rubicon. Thank you again for your knowledge.

Once you verify your orange is same as mine, you can cut it in the mid bath electric and attach to a 12v source. That would give you power to the front.

THE INTERESTING PART IS THAT IT LOOPS IN THE CONSOLE SO THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE 4 WIRES ONCE WIRE IS CUT IN CONSOLE. I'M GOING TO WAREHOUSE TOMORROW AND TAKE CONSOLE APART AND TRY TO TRACE.......TO BE CONTINUED. THANK YOU AGAIN redbaron.

keep in mind there may be a white (ground) wire running along with the orange. You should verify that it is solid and not tapped. This would be a secondary use wire too

Chargerman, what do you suggest or own? I'm curious.

I own a 2006 Monaco Executive. I love it as much as you guys love your Newmar’s and despite how much folks rave about the quality of that era of Monaco builds, I definitely have come across similar quality issues “behind the scenes” as I’ve seen in late model Newmar builds but no where near that level. I am keeping my Coach because we love the floorplan, interior quality, drivetrain (series 60 DD) and the fact that is a pre-emissions engine. Also because I refuse to buy a newer coach during the current market madness and I wouldn’t buy a coach until I have some confidence that the DEF head issue has been resolved if it affected the engine I was considering.
When things slow down my first choice in our next Coach is a Foretravel Realm or a Newell if I can find one without all of the crystal bling. My search will only be a for used Coach as I refuse to buy new for as much as we use the motorhome. If I were to consider a higher production build it would be a Cornerstone. My reason is that I believe they take a much higher depreciation hit then I think they should in the first few years which brings their price to a more reasonable level.
A couple years ago I had the opportunity to see a new King Aire and a Foretravel Realm side by side at a small show in Fl. The difference in overall quality between the two is quite obvious despite being priced competitively.
Lastly, I’ve toured both the Newmar and Entegra factories which helped me to understand the build process closely which also would have me choose a high end Entegra over a high end Newmar

redbaron. I visited the Newmar service center the end of March. What a great experience . While I was there I asked about the mysterious orange wire that looped in pass. seat console. To my surprise, I got the answer. The wire(S) start in the overhead above driver seat, go to the pass seat console, loop, and go to 1/2 bath, loop, and terminate in bay just below 1/2 bath. Now that I know I will find a good use for them. Probably some underglow lights. Thank You, Nevin, John1, and John2 at Newmar Service. That is another great discussion for another day. SAFE TRAVELS.
