WiFi slow and will have to update on Talkeetna later.

Talkeetna
Alaska Railroad runs a train from Talkeetna-Hurricane which is to service those that live off grid. This is one of the only flag stop trains left in the country. Since there is no real schedule to keep they stop for wildlife/scenic views and where someone needs to get on or off. This is a great way to see a part of Alaska where there are no roads.

We had great views of Denali and the drive down to Trapper Creek and in Talkeetna.

Did you take the old Denali highway?

Are you affected by the Alcan highway closure?

We will not be affected when we head south since we will be taking the Cassiar Hwy, imagine there will be a bit more traffic😳

This was a stay at Harvest Host, Alaska Raceway Park which is a NASCAR sponsored track. July 4th weekend so lots going on, Saturday races Sunday drag races and car show. Hosts were awesome and we had great time boondocking.

This is a beautiful drive down the Seward Hwy taking you along the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet just south of Anchorage. When heading to Soldotna you continue on AK1 (Sterling Hwy) thru Cooper Landing where you follow the Kenai River.

We stayed at Edgewater RV Park over July 4th. Park is very basic but on the Kenai River, with access to fishing.

Fishing Report @Neal

We fished the Kenai from shore, got nothing as the Sockeye were sparse. We did fish the Kasilof River about 15 miles south of Soldotna with better success, 22lbs once filleted.

This may seem a little out of order but we did back track to Cooper Landing. Originally want to stop before Soldotna but had problems with reservations over 4th of July so went back the 50 miles to stay at Kenai Princess RV Park, with the Lodge also located there.

30a full hookups
Cable-14 channels
AT&T-fair

Went up to the lodge to enjoy the food, beverages and views.

We also did drift boat down the Kenai River for trout, catch and release only.
