We have not used Autofill much because it overfills the tank to the point where water comes out of the overflow tube before shutting off. It does shut off at that point, but the siphon effect soon drains the tank to about 55%. And, no; I haven't yet done the anti-siphon mod.

So, today I went into the Autofill settings area and changed the stop setting to 85%. That seemed to work fine. I arbitrarily reset the fill level at 40%. What are others using for the "stop" and "fill" settings?

You can put water into your water tank and tell it when to stop based on a percentage of full? Damn, you Newmar boys are something else. :)

Yep! Ain't it great? And, we can tell it when the tank is low enough to get an automatic refill. Almost as good as a self-refilling microbrew beer mug. Unfortunately, I haven't found one of those...yet...to carry in the coach.

I don’t think my Newmar is as fancy as yours @TJ&LadyDi or I’m not as smart as you. I better get the book out and see if I can set the shutoff.

I have the Start Level set to 85% and the Stop Level set to 100%. Works great.

If yours is overfilling, then Silverleaf is not getting a 100% reading when the tank is full. That would seem to indicate that either the fresh tank needs to be recalibrated via the Silverleaf panel (tank MUST be drained first) or the sensor is not properly reading the fullness. Also, make sure your tank size is set to 105 gallons, as that info will be used to determine how full the tank is.

The FW tank calibration may be off just a little, allowing the over-filling. It is not off much, however, and not enough for me to go to the effort of recalibration. As for the Start level, I may increase that to 65%.

I believe only the SilverLeaf folks have the joy of this option, we just get the manual sensor but I think @redbaron had a failure of his or something and probably knows best on our commoner units. I think @TJ&LadyDi also sets carbonation or not, self cleaning, temperature, don perrier, etc. all from his control center. Pretty amazing!

I find that when my tank is overflowing, the top of the tank is bulging. It may be related to the anti siphon setup that I installed. When filling stops at 100% its nearly fully and maintains its shape.

I find that the tanks need to be recalibrated every so often. I think its because of atmospheric pressure changes as our elevation changes. The gray and black tanks are easy to recalibrate as every few days they are emptied. I have accidentally pressed recalibrate fresh instead of gray, which will cause the fresh water tank to overfill as Silverleaf read 0% when its actually full.

The fresh water tank is easy to drain using the low-point drain, but it does take a while to drain and re-fill and can make a puddle nearby.

Those carbonated showers are really amazing, all right! :ROFLMAO:

How big is this section of the operators manual and curious as to what this awesome feature costs? Sure beats my process of flipping on the "fill" valve and turning it back when the water comes out. ;)

"Manual?" What is this "manual" thing you speak of? Every RV we've ever owned just came with a book full of legalese warnings. :ROFLMAO:

Autofill was not an option on our coach. I think most or all of the Newmar line has autofill in some form or another. Apparently, the ability to set start and stop fill levels, however, is only available on those models with the SilverLeaf control system. It is not an "option" either; the model lines above Dutch Star have it as a standard feature.

To fix this problem, I recalibrated my full tank to be the point 10 gallons prior to overfill.

Guess we are lucky, ours worked fine from the get go, starts to autofill at about 45%, and stops at 95% full. For those with the neat shower water heat bypass thing. Make sure the tank is not full when using it, as it will take city water, warm it up and return it to the FW tank. Hope this helps.

It’s interesting that Silverleaf has a means to calibrate the empty setting but not a full setting. My understanding is that the sensors are pressure sensors and doing the recalibration tells Silverleaf what value it should receive from the sensor to correlate to empty. As for how it knows how full the tank is, I can only surmise that it uses the tank size to determine what pressure value the sensor should get for a full tank and calculates the percentage full based on these value.

Does that make sense?

On the old MH, we had Silverleaf system. Good and bad in everything, you could only fill tank through SL system, no SL, forget filling the tank. The OEM then put in the wrong sensors, so after I was told by SL they were the wrong ones, we had them change them to the correct ones. A couple hundred for that, but they worked excellent on all the tanks. Not sure in the new ones if there is a manual override setting or anyway to fill tank if SL is down. One reason we went with lower end unit, although if I hit the big one, might opt for the MA with the 450HP Cummins engine in it. We looked at one, and the SL system seemed easy to figure out based on my previous experience.

Silverleaf is one of the few companies with excellent customer service, don't ask dealer, don't wait on Newmar, call Silverleaf direct, they can help you with anything, fast, smart and customer oriented people.

FYI, the KIB panel DOES have this feature of calibrating your sensors. The settings have to be accessed by holding your finger down in the display for 22 seconds. There, you’ll see a number of advanced features, so be carefully what you do!!
