I'm not sure what type of awning you have, without seeing a picture, but my guess is it's like mine, a CareFree. I'll link to the Vista Shade attachment that may work which would allow you to tie it down. But you are asking for trouble regardless, high winds can tear the awning right off your coach and you'll be paying a pretty price for a repair. It's best to use awnings with little to no wind. They typically have a wind sensor, mine has 3 settings (low/mid/high) for sensitivity (or wind speed handling). Just apply a little common sense and save yourself a lot of money. They are fragile.

Mines a Girard , I’ll check to see where the settings are at and Thanks

If the sensors shut it leave it shut until the wind dies down. I have seen them ripped off of campers by the wind. Really ugly and expensive to fix.

Also, don't leave them open, while you are away while shopping in town, hiking etc. My awnings almost useless. Rain will fill them and they can collapse. In the slightest wind I can see them starting to sway up and down. Constant PIA.

We have had our motorhome going into the 3rd summer. I can count on 1 hand the times the awning has been out. It makes me really nervous to watch that thing bounce with the smallest or breeze. Its a power awning so no real "arms" to support anything. Looks like a big sail to me. I am paranoid about the thing flipping over the top and someone filming it for an insurance commercial.
