I also added mineral oil when I had my LA batteries and I feel it did help with the corrosion issues in my battery bay. I had it that way for a a couple of years. I don’t think it can hurt anything…

Thank you all for your responses. I am new to the RV world and to this forum, and, still learning both many things about our motorhome and how to best negotiate on this Forum. To answer Jim's question, I currently have 4 Crown deep cycle 6 volt batteries, model CR-235, AH rating: 235 (20HR), and 190(5HR). Forgive me, but Im not sure what all of that means. They are, I believe, lead/acid batteries. Thanks again everyone, and Happy New Year!
Thank you everyone. I will most likely replace with same (lead acid deep cycle 6 volt), primarily due to economics. I will try the mineral oil suggestion - makes sense. Wishing everyone a Happy and Health New Year, and Safe Travels.

I added mineral oil to mine a few years ago. I think it worked for a while and probably needs to be refreshed every two years as I'm still putting in a gallon or two of distilled water per year across 8 batteries. I use the flow rite watering system which makes it easier:

Neal, do you recall how much mineral oil you used? I wouldn't think the mineral oil would wear out but who knows.... That's a ton of water.

I don't remember but there was guidance somewhere and I followed it. It's more than you think.

Best I remember when I added it, it was 2 oz per cell. I used a battery tester (that looked like a turkey baster) to remove 2 oz of water and then added back 2 oz of mineral oil. It adds up so you need a few bottles…
