Is US 191 a good road to travel through grand Teton up to Yellowstone?
I would love to see your itinerary. I'm starting to plan a 3 week trip from California into all 3 parks, starting at the Grand Tetons. Would love your input on where to stop and which RV parks are best.

I'm looking at doing this trip in 2024. Is it difficult to get reservations at Colter Bay?

Yes, I'd be making them now, if it isn't already too late. Reservations at the full-hookup part of Colter Bay are made through the park concessionaire, Xanterra, not the Park Service.

We are also looking at making a trip to Yellowstone, as my wife has never been and then possibly up and doing a loop of Utah National Parks.

Is there any time better than others in terms of crowds, but still decent weather? I've heard the crowds at Yellowstone and other national parks is crazy, compared to what it was like a few decades ago (last time I was at Yellowstone was '89).

Avoid time between labor day and memorial.

The difference in crowds is significant.

Is late Sept through mid Oct doable, or too late in the year?

We were in YNP and general area in Sept a few years ago - not sure what temps you are accustomed to, be sure to look up average temps by month. When we were there, couple mornings had a dusting/light snow.

As long as the parks were open, I think I would take cold and light snow over hours of waiting.
