I remember the days of black smoke coming from diesel exhaust. While DEF sucks it does seem to have fixed that problem. For some reason though I guess it's not good enough?

The catalytic converter and factory cleanup made the difference. This was based on science and had no impact on the average consumer. Since then the changes are absurd money grabs full of corrupt practices.

Except nothing changed. Instead of black smoke we know have the same carbon being dropped on the ground and going into the water. Before it went into the air before going into the water.

The only difference is we don’t see or smell it anymore.

This is one of the many things that will happen. Once states rights are limited to the borders of their own state, many ridiculous side effects will be resolved.

Any state that accepts federal money for federal roads will have to follow federal laws. This includes ports of entry, airports, etc.

California is no longer the cheapest option for shipping goods. Mexico has opened ports and railways that are very fast at moving product into Arizona and Nevada skipping all the California regulations for trucking.

Warehouses are moving to Texas, Arizona, Nevada and leaving California.

whatever happens, the market place will find a way to survive.

Will the RV manufacturers just give up and quit selling to these 6 states? Or will this cause chassis manufacturers to start providing new options?
Is this the beginning of the end of the large RV?
We as Americans tend to like our big houses, big cars and big RVs (I like big ____ and I cannot lie…).

My hunch/hope is it will be a fear tactic now and never come to fruition maybe after litigation. We'll see what really happens.

I'm just confused how the letter in the OP lands on chassis vendors and not the engine vendor? How are FL and SP part of this? Maybe they own the after-treatment "emissions" side, I don't know.

FL and SP are the vehicle manufacturers. They issue the VIN. Everything else on the truck are just parts.

Apparently what happened is that FL and SP are not shipping into California the required number of EV's to "allow" them the privilege of continuing to sell ICE vehicles in the state. I don't see California giving in on this issue. It is how they have coerced the other ICE manufacturers (like Ford and GM) to make EV's to ship to California. Maybe this will be solved in the courts eventually but for now I suspect it will be gridlock short of some court order stay on this foolishness. For now, everyone that can should get out of California, individuals and companies alike. It is the only somewhat near term solution to this stupidity.
