Can see no benefit in changing the hydraulic fluid. It’s essentially a closed system and should not get contaminated like an internal combustion engine. Our former coach had an HWH system that wasn’t touched for 11 years of pretty consistent use.
Maybe your system had a bit of air in it that was causing the sounds.
HWH says to change it if contamination is suspected. It's a somewhat involved process. On a practical level, there's no need unless you identify moisture or crud. You can add either HWH fluid, Dexron or TranSynd.
