Do you have a dashcam in your RV and does it work?

I use Blackvue dashcam's and learned they don't last forever. I'm on a new set (2-channel) in my TOAD and after leaving Charlotte a few weeks back there was an interesting event on the highway, a landscaping boulder going down the middle lane. I checked my Blackvue dashcam to try to capture the footage to share here and yep, the dashcam died in May. RIP

So this is a PSA that if you have a dashcam and it's always on, set and forget, you may want to connect into it from time to time to verify it's still actually working.

So I picked up a new dashcam, the just released BlackVue Elite 10 4K dashcam and will install it soon. Sadly I've been diagnosed with incurable laziness so it's been sitting on my couch along with other things pending to-do's. As this dashcam supports a larger SD card I also picked up a 1 TB SD card to use with the new dashcam. If you're not aware, flash storage has gone through the roof in pricing. About 400% increase! Great if you invest in SNDK but not so great if you need a SSD or SD storage device.

We have a new Garmin (that moves from coach to towed) that we purchased last month. We had a Garmin previous to this one that lasted eight years be for it died. That brand doesn't last for ever either.

I have one that takes fantastic video, BUT:
1) It talks, but is quite unintelligible!
2) It comes with a very nice mount that would be great in a car with slanted windshield, unfortunately, it will not allow perpendicular mounting, so I had to custom make one.

And, yes, I replaced the original 64GB card with a 256 GB. That gives me 24 hour coverage

Another for the Rove dashcam.

Had one fail due to sitting in the windshield of the car in FL sun for quite a while.

Other than that they have never let me down.

Mine is in the open box on my "to do" bench in the garage. Along with a lot more to-do's.

I bought a little used Dell XPS laptop a while back. As part of the back and forth negotiations the seller said "but I just put a new NVME SSD in it!" And my reply was: "I know! That's what I'm trying to buy here. It just happens to be wrapped up in a laptop." He laughed and we came to an agreement.

Seriously. I used to just buy more or bigger hard drives as space filled over time. Now I'm starting to archive stuff on blu rays instead.
