Using smart tote caddy for grey water for first time and find that after closing gate valve water does not seem to empty out of trailer drain...seems to be a vacuum hold water back. Tote is only 1/2 full and tote vent is open. ANY THOUGHTS?

Does the water quit flowing into the tote or does it keep trying to get a slug of air? What size tank are you draining into what size tote?

It seems to need some air to empty into tote.
Tote is only 18 gal and I open and close gate valve to dump 10-12 gals into tote. It is by no means full.

New or older RV?

Vent on roof plugged.

I reread your question, and I don't quite understand it. Do you mean that when you dump your grey tank only about ten gallons drain then it stops flowing?
