MOD Electric Driver’s Window Opened from Outside.

There have been several owners that have been locked out of their coach for one reason or another. Having the ability to open the electric driver’s window from the forward electrical bay gives you access to the inside thru the window. This MOD was originally something that @Dutch Star Don did and posted on another forum. I did this mod on our 2017 DS, 2020 DS and for @ARD on her 2018 DS. All that is needed is some wire, a couple connectors and 1-2 hours of time.

First you need to access the side panel where the window switch is located, this varies a little depending on year.








I then fished two 14g wires, one red and one yellow down to the electrical bay. I used T-tap connectors to splice the wires I ran up from the electrical bay to the red and yellow wires on the switch.





I used bullet connectors on the wires in the electrical bay so they would be protected and coiled them up out of the way.



To power window down use the yellow wire and place on the battery terminal and the red wire to ground terminal. If you reverse them the window will close.


You now have a large enough window for you or someone else to access the inside of the coach and hopefully get the entrance door open.

This is an excellent mod and ensures that you will have a way to get into the coach if the door locks fail. We had Newmar do this mod when we were in Nappanee and they installed an inconspicuous rocker switch (actually, well hidden but easily accessible). If I had to do it again, I would likely do it myself but having Newmar do it was much easier on everything but the wallet.
