Thanks. Will let you know what he says.

Has any of you had this issue?
Our 2020 has brushes, all bent out of shape and opened up, but maybe not on this shaft… Replacing soon. Side benefit I learned basement lights on from their gap while fixing power cord gasket. One thing leads to one more.

Digging up this old thread to say that I have replaced thee twice and they just don’t hold up. And I don’t even travel that much. Are others having this issue? Or has someone come up with an alternative?

Rich

I cut out piece from an inner tube I had

I haven't had any issues. The difference is that matt is silicone. I should be durable. I think your best shot would be to buy one from Newmar and use it for a template on the silicone. The silicone should trim/cut easily

Thanks… but I am not sure what you mean. I have already bought two sets from Newmar. What else should I buy? Or am I doing something wrong here?

If you have one that is in good shape, no need to buy a template. I must have missed that in earlier posts.

Ok. All of them are beat up…and getting a template is not the issue…it’s what do I make it out of? Rubber sheeting does not seem to hold up. Still wondering if others have run into this or not.

The link I left is for silicone. I think it will be much more durable than rubber. You might even try going to Walmart a get a silicone cutting board to make yours. I know @Neal may be concerned that you skip the Amazon fix, but you could do that today.

Ok. I may order a sheet and see how it goes…. Will report back.

Hi All,

The gasket that helps "seal" off the basement storage where the support shafts slide into to the RV has become brittle and are crumbling. Have any of you gotten creative to replace it with something other than the standard slab of rubber Newmar used?

Let me know.
Thanks everyone!
Rich

Mine is probably the same but I never cared to do anything about it. It's probably futile and I don't think anything is going to come in but maybe a bird but doubtful of that. Think of the benefit, a vent for the heat? :)

I think one of those grassy cloth type things may work better, it would block the large holes yet allow the movement. Probably just a terrible design from the get'go.

Yea…probably true…I guess I am just a bit picky about it…and maybe shouldn’t let it bother me so much.
