Hi All,

I am having an issue with a camper I just recently purchased. Last night I was doing my first test run in the camper. I noticed that as the furnace started up and shut down I was getting a very loud rattling noise. Once the furnace fully started the noise would be gone. Likewise once the shutdown sequence ended the noise would also be gone. I have a 2023 Viking 2108st. The furnace brand appears to be Suburban. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I would love to be able to fix this issue myself instead of having to bring it to a shop. I have linked videos below.

May have to take it apart and see if something is in the fan cage, or if, it needs to be replaced.

@scotticus614 Mine is doing the exact same thing. Different model heater (Airxcel). Did you ever find out what was wrong?

ok, found a solution...sort of. lol
Suburban Furnace Model NT-16SEQ or NT-20SEQ

Fan starts
Furnace Ignites without a problem
Loud rattle for about 5 seconds after ignition of flame, then normal function
same loud rattle after burner goes out when reaching temp, fan continues to run normally until stop

Video of startup sequence with rattle attached

SOLUTION:
*** take burner out, put it back in *** ????
we removed front grill
then removed front plate of burner housing
pulled out the burner assembly...inspected inside....looked puzzled...reinserted burner assembly
replaced front burner housing plate
replaced front grill

problem solved! kinda like...turn it off, then turn it back on, eh?

we think maybe the nozzle hole/stabilizer was the source of the rattle. perhaps reinserting it reset it to the correct position so that it wasn't knocking. See image of burner assembly attached.

hope this helps someone else. I'm looking forward to not waking up every 15 minutes when the heat cuts on tonight!!! :)

cheers!
