So we’re taking our first trip in our used RV. Yay. Big damper today, can’t get Garmin 895 to accept our destination. It only picks up nearby locations. It’s paired with iPhone. Downloaded Garmin app. Looking at manual on device, it appears that this is how it works??
If so, have brand new Garmin 895 for sale.

If you put an address in the Garmin and it won’t accept it, check for a new update or thea possibility that the address doesn’t exist as you typed it.
I’ve used Garmins for over 10 years and they are rock solid, but have quirks. Overall, it is the best navigation software that I have ever found.

Honestly, that iPhone is a POS when it comes to any navigation. Use it to text and talk, use your nav aid to navigate.

The iPhone being paired does nothing other than offer live traffic and notifications from your phone if opted. It has nothing to do with navigation. As to finding your destination there are multiple ways from address to campground name. Keep in mind when putting in an address you may have to set the STATE for the Garmin to narrow down it's search. But you can try voice command "Hey Garmin" "Find XYZ Campground in Tulsa, OK" and see what it finds for you. Voice commands work really well but be extra sure to verify the address, etc. before accepting it. Don't ask how I know!

Almost always (not always) it is an issue with the operator rather than the device. Most of us, especially with Garmin have walked in your shoes.
Would you explain a bit about what and how you're trying to do it.

WE have used the Garmin for years and it absolutely takes time to get used to it. The one thing I do not like about my 870 is that is only gives me time to destination not mileage. There has to be away to chnage this but to date I have not found it. Other than that it is great.

I think it shows it, you just have to find it. I did a quick google for it, AI responded:

To view the mileage on a Garmin RV 890, you can access the Trip Computer or Trip Data:
  1. Touch the data field that displays your current speed or arrival time
  2. The distance remaining on the route will be displayed, along with the estimated time remaining
