Good afternoon, i have a 2006 Itasca Ellipse 40FD with my passenger side living room slider extended and wont retact. I am sure the solenoid needs to be replaced, but not sure which one. Is there a document somewhere that will tell me. I have 4 slides and of course the leveling system all on one manifold. thx...

Ok, i seem to have identified solenoid #4, by simply unplugging each of the other retract solenoids and test each slider operation. There is no room to grab this thing to remove it, and found there is a tool, old and new, that attaches to the cap. Ordered it and hopefully will try again this weekend. It seems the best access is climbing under the MH and just aft of the unit there is a small space I can somewhat sit up and get at this this. We'll see once i receive this tool. Will let you know. although it seems nobody is interested in this post. shrug...

You are waiting for someone that has had your problem of knowledge of it. That can take some time. The cost of that solenoid may shock you....and I would be testing the wires that go to it first. And then the switch......Is this an HWH system or an RVA?

Swap the plug going to the solenoid that you suspect is bad to a good solenoid. Then try activating the button again. If the slide works then you know it’s a bad solenoid

Ok, well we have replace the solenoid in question and all works wonderfully and after a couple days the room is not leaking out so I would say Success.
I did have some challenges though. I did receive the removal tool which took some time to figure out how it really works. Found you need the flapper down, release pressure, in order to use it. HAHA, unfortunately in that position it hits the frame and in a couple spots preventing this from being useful. I ended up removing the flapper to access the holes in the solenoid for the tool. It was so tight in bent the tool and bloodied my are when it finally release. Damn that hurt?
So comes the next challenge... Installing the new one with no room and not being able to use the newly acquired special tool. Got it started, but found there was going to be very challenging if not impossible to do this without some sort of toolage and as i was frustrated and working my way back out from under the MH I suddenly say a very clear view of the soleniod though a small opening that i could get some channel lock through, tighten it up, but not too tight as the documentation suggests. Plugged it all back in an HURRAY! slider now retracts as expected and have not noticed any hydraulic fluid leaking by.
Through a lot of reading found it was recommend to use only HWH built part as the o-ring, somehow is special, and remanufactured solenoids from whomever don't use them and fail more frequently.
Anyhow. that's my story. I don't look forward to replacing any others in the future, but my rig is now 20 years old and maintenance is a thing and will start to carry a spare.
