I have just purchased a 2017 22R with 39,000 miles. It is a F450 chassis with a Triton V-10 engine. I drove it about 850 miles up I-5 to my home north of Seattle. My previous two RV's were Chinooks with the v-10 and I got 10-11 mpg. On my trip home I got 8.5 mpg. I figure it was the larger wind surface on the coach plus doing 70-75 mph that lowered the mileage. What are others getting with their v-10's? Second question: I am thinking of switching the two group 24 deep cycle house batteries to one 300 AH Renogy lithium phos. battery. I am concerned that the battery is exposed to the outside temperature as it is in the staircase that has opening in it. These batteries do not like temps. below 32 degrees and most have a low temp shut off for charging. Has any one else installed a Lithium battery in this coach? If so, how did it perform during winter temps.?

Thanks in advance for anything that you can offer--Royce

See if they offer a heater for the battery.

We had a 2014 Forester 3051 and got around 8.5 mpg as well. It was pushing max chassis weight too. We also pulled a 3,000 lb toad behind it.

We did gain some when I added a 5 Star Tune to it. Helped with performance as well.

Running between 60 and 65 helps as well 😊
