I have been insured by Progressive via USAA for the past ten years. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I have never experienced the large rate jacks I have read others have with them. This Nat Gen quote just seems a little too good.
Was the independent agency Overland?Foremost Insurance through an independent insurance agency. First two years was $1,900/year. Just got renewal for year 3, increase of $400. New replacement cost included.
Nope. They once catered strictly to military and I don't know the details but I think that has changed as again, they are a business and they want a larger market share.
CEO changed about 5 years ago. CEO just changed again. Hopefully it will turn around.Don't be like me and drink the "koolaid "!
Good luck!
Sadly USAA has really changed in the last 5-7 years.
They will never get another penny from me!
USAA has never been the cheapest for me and I don’t use them for my RV. But I do use them for all of my other insurance because while they aren’t the cheapest, they are certainly the easiest to deal with and they tend to operate in good faith, which is a lot more than can be said for some other institutions. As a 50+ year USAA customer I, too, am beginning to consider shopping. Between USAA and Progressive through them, I spend north of $10k/year with them. This year I will be spending $1500 more than last year for the same coverages. Somethings gotta change here, either them or me.
