I am starting to plan my route for traveling south in January. I am wondering about I 40 in Tennessee and North Carolina as well as I 26. I believe both had damage from hurricane. does anyone know if they are open. What is it like traveling through there. Is it backed up or slow going? Are there any restrictions? Will be traveling in a class A towing a SUV.

I usually take I 75 to I 40 to I 26.
I can go I 77 to I 26 but i prefer I 75. More places to to stop for the night.

Thanks for any info.

Dan

Following since we will be in Gaffney this coming May. That is the route we took north after leaving the service center.

This was current as of Oct 5th. I doubt anything has changed.

Ideas for a route around closed area?
I like to stay first night in Georgetown Kentucky. Alternative routes from there.
I64 to Charleston WV to I 77 south.
Or Stay on I75 to Knoxville I40 to I81 to I77
That way I can take my preferred route from Home I71 south

I have never traveled I64 so don’t know what it is like.

I would likely go I64 to Charleston WV to I 77 south. I haven’t been on 64 that far west, but the sections I have been on have been fine.
