Since the coach is stored in the back yard with no food in it and there seem to be a lot of cats in the area, I didn't think a mouse would be a problem, and yet, here we are. I set up a camera and caught a pic of him sniffing the electric trap, but nothing since. I put a couple small traps out and the mouse took all the peanut butter off but didn't trip the trap. I bought an electric unit, and some sticky traps, but after last night, no results. Anybody have tips as to what to try?

I had an issue years ago in my garage, house, etc. I used glue traps with peanut butter on them.

Mice will eat your wiring in a heartbeat.
We feed an average of 8 to 12 wild cats, and we have two indoor cats.
What has worked for me and seems to be neat is I buy mouse packs and put one in every collector car, in my attic, and have two in the motor home after 24 years here in the woods, never a problem.
I replace it every 2-3 years.
I just took this picture going up to the attic; someone had their last meal.

If the rodent dies in the coach, I imagine it might be hard to find and would stink to high heaven.

LOL
They dont; as soon as they break into the pellets, they run for water. First, drink, and they die.
I find the bodies in our goldfish pond.

I've got 4 HD rat/snake/ mouse glue traps in the coach now with peanut butter. Hopefully tonight's the night

That looked large for a mouse Bwk, I had a black rat get into mine last year and he would not be caught by a trap. Same with squirrels. Finally got him with 2 kinds of poison.

I have never seen a rat here, as we have a lot of rat snakes around the woods, but these are sold as mice baits.
Seam to work well; the one in the picture has been there about three years; first, I was at steps about a year ago, so who knows what and when it was attacked.

Did he leave to die or did he end up dead in the coach?

I pulled my camper a few miles to a local campground and he flopped out of the back hatch while I was sitting there with an adult beverage and friends. Dispatched it with the blunt side of a hatchet. I later pulled the bottom down as mine was just a fabric and found one dead mouse in the fiberglass. I believe these poisons advertise that they somehow negate most of the smell? I had him buttoned in there so he probably didn't feel like chewing a new hole. I now have several packets permanently installed in the belly thru holes I have patched in. Plus steel wool and expanding foam in the areas where they were getting into the interior.

I never have found a dead in an attic or car.
What started, find the bodies in my gold fish pond and dear water tub.

I was wondering how tight todays coaches are and whether rodents would be a problem. I’m out in the country and mice and rats are a constant issue for us. I’ll have to be extra vigilant watching for sign that they are active on the DS. Way too many wires to feast on on this rig!! I have had mice disable a vehicle or two over the years. On just chewed a hole in the windshield washer plumbing on my wife’s Rover that kept draining the reservoir.

My best guess in this instance is he got in following the electric line into the bay because there was some plastic chewed up in there.

The best mouse trap I have found is the 5 gallon bucket trap. It consistently works IF you set it up right. The mouse MUST have a ramp up to the top of the bucket. If you think you have rats or squirrels, then you need to use a trash can, again the ramp MUST be set up. This is great for multiple mice. And if you have one mouse, then you likely have more than one as mice pop out babies at an alarming rate. During freezing temps or long periods of storage, use pink anti freeze to drown the pests. BTW, you can also buy a premade lid to put on a 5 gallon bucket from Amazon.

I usually use bait, but try to bait outside the living area. Bays, storage areas, on ground next to RV in storage. Glue traps inside for any that avoided the bait. I would rather not attract them into the living area if at all possible. Previous coach I did find a dead one in a drawer many days too late to avoid the smell though, they dont always get out to die.

I use the old style traps with cotton string tied to where the bait is placed. Then use peanut butter where some of peanut butter is absorbed by the string. Never had a trap set up this way get cleaned up w/o setting it off.

Well, I have come to the conclusion that it is a rat. It has avoided all glue traps and spring traps. I can't imagine what it's eating as there are no food products on the coach. I just emptied all the bins yesterday and today I'm starting with RatX poison inside and out that's supposed to kill while eliminating the smell by dehydration. I hope this works as it's starting consume my waking thoughts to the point of exhaustion.

Tonight I have 3 different types of poison, 3 Tom Cat rat traps, 3 glue traps, and one Victor old fashioned rat trap. The Victor has been there for 3 nights now and I guess he got used to it. I turned on the camera just in time to see him dance around it trying to figure it out. Then.... SNAP!! It was better than watching an MMA fight. 1 Rat gone to see his ancestors. I'm leaving the bait out to make sure there are no more. Hoping not as this is the only one I've seen on camera. Maybe I can get some sleep tonight!
