Good news for EV but even better news for electric RV's. NEVI funding has started again..

NEVI has specific language to encourage pull through (diesel truck stop style) EV and EV trailer stalls.

There is no requirement under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program to fund pull-through charging stations specifically. The program establishes minimum standards for EV charging infrastructure funded through NEVI (such as requiring at least four DC fast charging ports at stations along designated Alternative Fuel Corridors, with specific power levels and connector types), but pull-through designs are not mandated. However, the regulations and guidance encourage states to consider pull-through stations as part of site design, particularly to accommodate medium- and heavy-duty vehicles or those towing trailers. For example:
• States are encouraged to include pull-through parking stalls to better serve larger vehicles, as they allow for easier access without needing to back up or disconnect trailers.
• Charging stations must publicly report (via API to third-party software developers) whether each port offers "accessibility by vehicle with trailer (pull-through stall)" as a yes/no data field, implying that such features are optional but should be disclosed if present.
•Related accessibility guidance from the U.S. Access Board (referenced in NEVI standards) recommends that pull-through stations provide at least 16 feet of width for vehicle spaces and ensure charging cables can reach vehicles positioned up to 5 feet away, but these are non-binding recommendations focused on mobility accessibility rather than a funding mandate.
NEVI-funded projects must comply with broader accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but this does not extend to requiring pull-through configurations. Funding decisions for specific station designs, including pull-through options, are left to state discretion after meeting core program requirements.

Margaret Thatcher said "Socialism works until you run out of other peoples money". If there was sufficient demand to make pull through EV charging stations profitable you wouldn't need the gov't to subsidize building them.

NEVI is a program was started by the last administration along with many other Federal incentives for EV's. The program was well along in most states with new construction in progress and billions all ready spend. Trump turned off funding when he came in but I think most people agreed it made no sense walking away from all the money spend on unfinished projects, so they are going to finish the NEVI EV infrastructure program.

Given the situation I think it was the right thing to do. At this point it is a matter of common sense and has nothing to do with socialist ideas.

Reminds me of the safari that has been hacking a path through dense jungle for weeks, eventually one of the crew climbs a tree and shouts down "we're going the wrong direction". The safari's leader shouts back, "we're busy hacking a path down here and besides, we've come too far to change direction now".

Had to park in a truck spot at a FJ. They replaced RV spots with this junk. One car sitting there. Two other MH’s filled up and left.

My stand on these type of subsidies is if it can not make money without support then why should we support it with tax money? I have the same question on alcohol base fuels. Without the subsidies this wouldn't exist??

Yea, we could probably spend all day debating the merits of direct or indirect government subsidies 🤣 They touch almost all forms of energy, including ethanol like you note but also oil/gas

The NEVI (National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure) program was funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which was signed into law by President Joe Biden in November 2021.

Trump canceled it immediately. Projects were under way with significant amounts all ready spend. The Trump administration was advised the would not prevail in court to withhold the funds for appropriated and approved projects at the local level. So they decided to complete the existing projects.

The time to argue the wisdom of this project was in 2021. Let's stop beating this dead horse. New subsidies for EV's will not happen anytime soon.

This is why people hate gov't. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was supposed to rebuild decaying infrastructure like roads and bridges. Instead it's building pull through ADA compliant EV charging stations.

Think zero point for the answer, not miss guided government spending.
