Haven’t seen it but…anyone do a tomahawk steak on their Ninja yet?

Just going to grill so no smoke etc.

It is pretty thick so thinking on low instead of medium like I normally do.

Why would cooking a thick tomahawk steak vs a thick filet be any different?

Haven’t done a thick filet either. Most of our steaks have been up to an inch and this is at least twice that.

I regularly cook 2" thick filets on low and monitor the temperature closely. Let the steaks sit out for at least 30 minutes to get closer to room temperature before placing them on the grill.

Yep, room temp always or close we do.

From what I’ve found will start on high temp to sear for just a minute or two each side, then turn grill to low and continue cooking until pulling at 120 to rest.

120 ℉ is where I pull also. Rest for at least 5 minutes.

Thanks for confirming. Local meat market had Wagyu strip steak and Wagyu tomahawks (think from Kentucky so prices weren’t bad).

Grabbed the tomahawk and don’t want to mess it up 😊

We are at the Newmar Kuntry Klub rally in Washington DC Last night, I cooked a steak on my Ninja and half a dozen people stopped by asking about the Ninja. I'm doing my best to help Jeff.

Almost had a Ninja failure for my wings the other day. Lid sensor issues, can't remember the error message but it wasn't fun to resolve. The lid sensor looked clean but I wiped it and surrounding area, pushed plunger in multiple times, eventually started working again. Rear center of lid is where the plunger is.

This thing is da bomb. I cooked 2 1/2# of sausage and 3# of bacon in fifty minutes. Twelve eggs, four at a time, two minutes flip one minute for over medium on low. I thought I would need the griddle plate, but I am thinking the split plate is gonna be fine. I have the full grill plate for steaks and chops. It cooled off and I wiped it down. I now have a slab of ribs in there smoking for supper. Did I say this thing is da bomb?

Address??? I’m now hungry.

I had @GlampDaddy wings last night. What a simple cook. Air crisp, woodfired with cherry pellets, 400 ℉ for 26 minutes. Turn once at the halfway mark. The only difficult part was deciding to eat with or without sauce.

"Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Bites"

Second try at these, and my best batch ever! Cubes of chicken breast wrapped with bacon and covered in brown sugar. Baked at 375* for about 15 minutes. Yum!

NOTE: This was my first time testing out these aluminum pans that I got on Amazon. Just about perfect for the stainless rack to sit on. Sure makes a difference when the bacon starts to drip! No grill clean up and the aluminum pan has a few more uses in it.

OK Ninja owners help me out. I'm planning to jump in to the Ninja world. Would love to hear pro's & cons for the XL Pro "Connect". I had a Pit Boss product that had the "connect" feature and it was basically useless, range was poor and just overall unreliable so I ended up never using that "feature". Looks like I can save a bit of $ to go with a Ninja non connect model but I'd like to have it IF it actually works. Thanks in advance for your input.

Figured I'd check and it looks like the Ninja Outdoor XL is on sale again!

I like the app as not only does it give you notifications but it's far easier to change the cook method, times, etc. rather than figuring out the button pushes and dials, preheat skipping, etc. If you're using a temp probe you can easily monitor temps. I would only get the model that has the app, it's great.

These pellets are a must have as well:

Welcome to the gang club! :)

What Neal said. Setting up the cook much easier from the app.

Plus the XL Connect is larger for more cooking area overall.

We got rid of our Traeger pellet grill once we picked up the Ninja. Much nicer cooking on it.

Just remember to cook by temperature and not time 😊

I believe the other advantage is the XL has two thermometers instead of just one so you can monitor different items.
