When I try to go to the Peplink Dashboard to make changes to my Peplink Router it tells you to use https://192.168.50.1/. My computer is telling me that the certificate is not valid so it is making it hard for me to get to the site. It says the certificate "may not be valid YET". Am I the only one having this issue? Is this a CAT 20 5G issue because the AT&T SIM is only running at 3G? Or maybe it's because AT&T hasn't certified the Peplink for 5G? Or can it be that Peplink really doesn't have a valid certificate? I find that hard to believe.

Also, as a second question if I may.............I don't usually go to websites that tell me they are "not safe" so I'm not sure how risky this is with this one. I mean there's a name and a pretty hard to figure out 12 digit alpha/numeric password I'm using to get to the dashboard, so is my credit card information really at risk here like my computer is telling me?

Thanks for the help!

That URL is the direct link to the router’s admin page.

You just need to be on THAT network to access it.

Generally, it’s better to use the IP address alone, WITHOUT the https: prefix; for example, just use 192.168.50.1 in the url/location field.

You need to close all your browser windows and even DELETE your history and cache then restart your browser.

If these didn’t work, I’d force a reboot on the router.

Yes. This is just to access the Dashboard. I'll give this a try. Thanks!

Hey…sorry…geez, bad typos in my above reply to you. Please read with the minor corrections.

This is normal and you can disregard the warning. It's because of the type of SSL certificate (self-signed) that is being used (geek speak).

As others have noted it’s typical. Since these are devices on your local network the good news is you should (in most case)be pretty confident they’re not going to harm your machine. The issue is that in most case the address the device is on can be changed in config so they don’t bother issuing any kind of certificates. As someone else noted you can try without the https at the start, if that doesn’t work, depending on the browser you’re using, you should still be able to proceed, for example in chrome you should have an advance button and then a proceed link.

I don't have my Pepwave with me right now but I think there is a setting in the admin to make it accept only https. If you find that it doesn't respond at all with http:// then that setting is probably checked on.

I think some (maybe most) browsers now try https first if you enter a URL without http:// or https:// so you have to explicitly enter http:// to force it to http.

As others have said, if it's on your local network, it's safe to go past that error.

With Chrome on a Mac there is sometimes no button to proceed. You have to type thisisunsafe on that error page. There's no input box so it looks like your tying is going nowhere. It used to be badidea until they changed it to thisisunsafe.

I'm pretty sure Peplink defaults to HTTPS as a factory setting. What Neal told you is correct. Normally, once you accept the certificate from the Peplink this warning goes away.
