I have several appliances I have attempted to hook up to my propane connection on the outside direct connect but the items will not stay lit for some reason can anyone help me with this problem thank you. I have purged the air out of it so that is not the problem.

Are the appliances designed to hook up to a screw on one pound bottle? If so, you probably have a regulator on them. The quick connect has regulated pressure (approx. 11 inches of water column) and if there is another regulator down stream on the appliance the pressure will be so low you won't be able to keep them lit. You would need to remove the regulator on the appliance to have it function properly.

Thanks Gronk. I suspected as much, was just hoping that wasn't the case since I use my "Big Buddy" heater at home also with a standard connection.
