I'm looking at my route out of Quartzsite to Casa Grande, AZ - always amazed how far west Quartzsite is from Phoenix. Anyhoo, my quickest route is via Phoenix on I10. I'm thinking to take an alternate southern route as offered by Google Maps, it's a half hour longer but it goes 95 south to I8 then east to Casa Grande. Why? It takes me through the area I used to fly a lot in A-10's, the gunnery ranges, etc. and it may be a much more scenic route and reminiscing of course.

Anyone been on this route? Good idea? Bad idea?

I would definitely take the alternate route. Although it is a little longer you avoid all the Phoenix traffic which ca be rather heavy at times. There is still construction around the Loop 202 south. Unless you need to go thru Phoenix I would avoid and enjoy the scenery

Just watch out for those A-10 guys laying down a bombing run! :ROFLMAO:
