Any ideas how to unclog a roof drain. Screen on roof is not block/covered with debris.

I removed the "duck calls" from the end because the screw goes through and blocks the line. I left them off and use a garden hose from the bottom to clear the line. In the rear, make sure you don't try to clear the one on the drivers side with water. It is the drain for the air intake box. The two on the passenger side are the roof drains.

You can also use compressed air to clear the drains. The grates on top are held in place with silicone caulk. I cut them out in order to be able to clean out the debris that is pushed out of the drains and then re-caulk them back in place when finished.

I never understood the purpose of the duck bills on the roof drains?

Agree. I'd make them pex and have the ability to blow them out without concern.

Concur. And to top it off, they are held in place by screws that bisect the drain lines!

The first time i crawled under the MH to investigate a clogged drain, I stared at those duck bills like a dog staring at a ceiling fan. No idea why they are there, but I’m sure newmar had at least a hint of a reason for them.

It's designed to keep bugs out from making a nest, like mud daubers. That said, I've never had a problem with them off for the past 6 years.

I removed the original roof drain covers and put these in the drain cavity:

You have to pop them out and rinse them out every so often but I haven’t had a clog in several years. You do have to replace them every year or so as the sun slowly destroys them.

I installed them also a while back. So far so good.
Think the duck bills are the next thing to go.

Woah! Love this idea and thanks for posting! Do they stay in place w/o a mechanical attachment? Do you take the current screen off? Thanks in advance Jim.
