We’re looking to buy our first RV and I’m a bit confused about the fridge types. I know a fridge that runs on LPG is an absorption fridge. But is one that runs on propane and 110 still just an absorption fridge - or when running on 110 does it power a compressor? How about one that says 12V fridge? Residential fridge?

Any clarification would be appreciated.

The 12v and 110 on a propane refrigerator is a heating element added to the boiler.

Thanks for the info. I suspected as much - but wanted to be sure. I guess unless the sticker on the fridge says compressor - it isn’t.

Are you looking for a new one?

New fridge or new RV? We’re looking for an RV but just started the process and have no plans to buy until next year. Want to go to the RV show in Tampa in January to check out all the models on our “have to see” list.

Check tampa,,,Tampa,,, buy,,,use it to shop and then look for some of the used units which should be begining to flood the market from the throng of covid buyers giving up. Say
Ve your money
