As with anything pressing against a painted surface, scratching can take place. Clean surfaces very well before mounting, or better yet mount to your windows!
My mount is a little heavy (almost 4 pounds) and then adding the pole (almost 2 pounds) makes it so much so that I would not want it on a window. Then one must consider the drag that wind would add from the flag during a stiff breeze and I would be scared that the window could either break or be pulled from its frame.

But you are correct about possible paint damage. I wiped the side of my coach to make sure it was clean but a moist surface seems to make the suction a little stronger as well.

Well mine, along with new flags, arrived.

Seem to be quite sturdy and holding well.

Thanks for the update. Looking good!

An update as promised. The holder has been mounted for just over a month now. It has not been adjusted or re-installed. It has been solidly attached from the outset. It has not moved or loosened even though we have experienced some fairly strong winds, two rain storms and temps ranging from 0 C (32 F) to 23 C (73 F). I was concerned that the temp fluctuation may have had an effect of the hold but so far so good. Perhaps my coice of flag pole may have helped as it allows the flag to spin according to wind direction. Photos show where it has been mounted, the way the flag has been attached as well as other flags in the park including one that seems to be constantly tangled. He needs a pole that will allow the flag to pivot.
