The problem with these very bright flash lights is they get very hot if used for more than a few minutes. Unless the flash light output can be adjusted lower for continuous use I find them unpleasant to use.
And some are just too bright for anything other than large area illumination.

Olight flash lights are a good brand. My EDC are these. The small light case is a battery keeping it at 100%. The larger unit is good for larger areas and easier to hold. IMG_2233.jpeg

Agreed, that's why I like the ones that you can control brightness to manage temp.

I wish I was Neal’s little brother or next door neighbor so I could get all Neal’s “hand me downs” after his upgrades.
Still using a maglite and a cheap knockoff headlamp.
Apparently I am living in the dark ages and need to walk towards the light…

Can vouch for the longevity of the Surefire brand.

We have a couple of the defender type and have had them for quite a few years now with no issues.

Nice since they also come in handy if the “defensive” portion is needed.

On the boat everything had it's place! The flashlight also had it's place so I could always find it! One in every drawer.

if there wasn't enough light, I waited for sunlight.

Need a flashlight or two for house, RV, etc. Handheld, rechargable, something bright of course. Looking at the one below but not in a rush so looking for recommendations. Any suggestions?

I'm a fan, and have a good inventory, of the names that are getting the best mention here - Olight, Surefire, Fenix and Steamlight. If I had to have only one brand, it would be Olight because of reliability and durability. I don't like rechargeable lights because they fail and become throwaways, but rechargeable batteries have served me well.
My all-time favorite light, the one I carry in my pocket and use every day, isn't very bright, but has led me home in the dark too many times is the Olight i3E. Amazon.com

Thanks for the reminder, I need to get this figured out. So I reviewed the websites from the above posts and brands mentioned. Good stuff. Looking for something over 3000 lumens, rechargeable preferred, even more preferably I like plugging in a cable but I have the chargers too where you put the batteries in the cradle thingy. So here are some I have my eyes on: (btw, I love the marketing game of different uses of candela, lux, and lumens)

Streamlight HL 6

Fenix PD36 TAC

Really leaning towards staying with the Fenix, really appeals to me. As I need two, I may try both of the above. Pretty complex array of options, I want bright, rechargeable, handheld for dog walking, variable brightness preferred. Need to upgrade lights around the house, etc.
