I am looking for a little guidance. I have just purchased a Tire Monitoring System since I recently replaced the tires on the coach. I am a little concerned with what AI is suggesting for a suggested PSI. Here is the info that I hope will shed light on what I should consider.
I have a 2019 Jayco Precept 31U.
GVRW = 22,000 lbs
Front GAWR 8,000 Rear 15,000
I have Michelin 235 80R22.5 load range G Max pressure is 110 PSI
I have not had a chance to have the coach weighed yet. I am just setting the monitor system up.
Jayco recommends a max tire pressure front and rear at 90 PSI.
Since I do not have any actual weights AI recommends running the tires at Max PSI as recommended by the tire manufacturer because an underinflated tire will over heat. To further complicate matters, there are no scales in my neck of the woods that can measure the weight of each corner. Only front and rear axles. So, from what I am reading, pressures will be a "best guess" anyway for now.
I am doing my best to balance the weight side to side. I have two slides on the left (the galley which is large and the bedroom which is small) as well as the Generator. This, to me, makes it the heavy side. The right side has a small slide (dinette) and a large fridge plus two 12 volt wet cell house batteries. I have moved some tools and heavier items to the right side storage bins. Fuel, fresh and holding tanks are center rear so even side to side. Hopefully I have managed to balance the load fairly well.
On the plus side, reorganizing has allowed me to get rid of some stuff that is not important enough to keep.
So, should I go with what Jayco recommends or AI? maybe the safest bet is to split the difference and go 100 PSI. The tire company told me that they always just go with 100 PSI but I don't thrust them. I now have tires with pressures ranging all over the map from 110 and down to 85.
Looking for suggestions (or confirming my thought of 100 PSI).
