Well, this doesn't look good! It's 16* outside and this just started so no telling if I'll be able to get off the mountain tomorrow or not. Rats, got too much stuff to do, this I don't
I thought you were retired Jim. It is permissible, actually recommended to chill. Oops, bad choice of words, but you get the picture.😂

Got everything ready to go, set the house alarm and headed to the rig. Loaded Ryker and a BUNCH of last minute items. Backed the rig out, drove the truck in line to be connected and . . . no pins for the towbar! I had left them in the Jeep and I sold the Jeep a month ago.

Now what? It's Saturday, nobody in this 2-horse town even knows what a towbar is, let alone carry parts. Called the guy who bought the Jeep and he was in New Orleans. But he said the Jeep was in Highlands in his front yard (30 miles away) and go help myself.

By the time I got the pins and had the truck connected, it was too late to leave. So we'll hit the road at 6:00am tomorrow and head out for Pensacola. What a disappointing start this has been. :(

I think that is a sign that you shouldn’t have been on the road today.

Safe travels tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that Jim. When the Jeep left, I noticed the pegs in the baseplate and thought it strange that they were leaving too, but didn't speak up. The anticipation of the trip is sometimes the best part, so enjoy another night at your beautiful surroundings!

So, this is your fault them?

You can blame me.... BTW, taking a page from Jim's book, I removed the dinette seating switching to two chairs. Opens up a lot of room for the recliners. Instead of trashing them, I decided to repurpose them in the house.

$hit happens. At least the problem was solvable.

You were supposed to leave Sunday. Safe travels and enjoy.

And Trish said……?

And Trish said……?
Even Trish knows there are times that the obvious needs to be left unsaid. . . She did well.

I carry spares. I'm not sure which pins you're talking about, the ones the two bar connects to or the pins that secure the tow bar to the baseplate connectors. One of the "small pins" fell out after unhooking and had a hard time finding it when I realized later it wasn't in the tow bar where I keep it stowed but eventually did but that immediately made me learn I better have spares. If someone were to take my baseplate connecting "things" I'd be in trouble too so I have spares of both of those. While I may not need them, a neighbor may so good to carry spares of these IMHO.

Waking up in the mountains of NC. This years camping was interrupted with hurricanes and a back surgery for my wife. But 2026 hopefully will be better. Wife is doing great and reservations are made for two separate months at Hatteras NC and a July week camping trip in Virginia. But always fortunate to have this view in my back yard.
