Good morning everyone, I'm new to this forum and I'll fill out my profile when I get a chance. I am an experienced RV owner and currently own a GD 270BN fifth wheel. I ordered a F-250 Lariat with a 7.3 gas engine in 2023 and then purchased the trailer, also a 2023. I am know looking to trade the trailer in for a Winnebago 2529RG. We will be taking a 2 1/2 month trip starting in August then returning to FL in late October. At some point I would like to trade the truck in and go back to an F-150. I will be ordering that truck with a Max Tow Package. I'm wondering if any of you have a 2529RG and are towing with an F-150 and how is it working out for you. Thank you for your input, boomer.

I pull a 17 foot 3700 lb with a 150,and I sometimes wish I had more, I'm wondering why you want to use a less capable tow vehicle? That camper looks like it weighs around 6500 empty correct?

Yes I am wondering the same thing, why are you not happy with the 250? We toe with a 3500 1 ton Chevy express van and I’m always wishing I had more tow vehicle not less.

"The Winnebago Minnie 2529RG is a 30-foot travel trailer with a dry weight of 6,361 lbs."
    • GVWR: 8,800 lbs.

Found that online. Not meaning to pile on but why give up HP? As you know, for the trip you are planning, there is a bunch of extra weight you will be hauling around.
Thank you,
Ken

In my opinion, HP is not as important as braking, payload, stability, etc.

Your flirting with disaster, stick with the 250

I’ve towed about everything you can think of in personal and commercial life over the past 50 plus years. Like others have said not sure about why you would want to go with a smaller tow vehicle. Towing a camper trailer compared to a fifth wheel is a huge difference. There is little to no forgiveness when they get unruly such blowing a tire or windy conditions. They can whip a pickup around pretty easy when the situation gets out of hand. Under sizing your tow vehicle is an extremely bad idea. Knowing the tow ratings of today’s pickups your choice will probably be acceptable by the book but in my experience I wouldn’t recommend it. Just my 2 cents.
