I have a 2016 Dodge 2500 that has the trailer package installed When I hook up to the trailer I get a symbol on the dashboard telling me this
My 16 ram 1500 also has factory package. Your truck had the brakes connected, then they became disconnected. This is on a per start basis. If you disconnect the trailer while the truck is running that is what is read on the information display. A restart via key will make the display clear.

Try reconnecting the trailer plug.

I don't know anything about the brake controller in your Nissan, but since the brakes work with another trailer you need to trace the problem on your trailer. I suggest taking the cover off the junction box where your pigtail goes. Plug the trailer into your truck and check for power at the BLUE wire. Also check to make sure another wire is hooked up to the same wire. If you have 12v+ there, go under the trailer and check the connectors by the wheels. If you have 12v+ there, check the ground wire coming from your brakes and make sure it has a good connection to the trailer frame. If good there, go back to the box where you first checked for power and make sure the WHITE wire is connected to the frame. That will give you a good start as to where your problem is. Oh, there is not a fuse in the trailer brake wiring on the trailer side.
Thank you, that was essentially my same thought process, really was looking for a sounding board. I went out for a quick look and found that the wire to the emergency brake controller was not grounded and dangling from a zip tie. I'll start with reconnecting the ground and then go backwards along the circuit. Thanks for the quick response! I'll follow-up when done.

That would certainly cause an issue. Please let us know what you figure out!

Update -
Went to re-connect the break-away wire to the battery at the circuit breaker and realized the circuit break was trashed. Replaced the circuit breaker (Amazon: Fastronix 30A 12V Type 1 Automatic Reset Circuit Breaker with Cover) , still no connection with the TBCU. Next I replaced the entire Breakaway Cable & Switch Assembly with a new one (Amazon: Fastway Zip 6 Breakaway Cable and Switch 80-00-2060). YAHTZEE!

Took the trailer for a spin around the neighborhood, adjusted the gain & boost, works PERFECTLY now. Super excited and thrilled to have it all resolved. Also, I'm very pleased with the Breakway kit, very clean and simple design, the red cable & carabiner were good quality.

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Thanks for coming back and letting us know what you discovered! Glad things are working now!!
