This could be a commercial as it's how they are made. State/create a 'problem' then introduce your product as a remedy to it and make the sale. Just another tidbit of cocktail information.
Anywho, the thing I dislike most about RV-ing is......food. There's just not enough storage capacity in it for me as far as foodstuffs go. I can/freeze a lot of what I eat, so I eat well and inexpensive year around. For example, I can fresh green beans and then fry them when it's time to eat. Lil butter, garlic and wonderful, firm, not soggy like the cananed stuff. Or harder like the frozen stuff.
But in an RV, how does one can things? Have to have a home base for this. If one does it at a hotel, going to have to haul all those supplies around and carry the empty jars afterwards. Not worth it. So when RV-ing, I don't eat like I do at home due to storage limitations and the cost/quality of restaurant food. Heavier snacking is more along the lines of how I roll on the road.
Yeah, I do like to cook (and fish). What irritates me about doing that is having a bad tool to use. It makes it work, as in cutting a thick ribeye in half, horizontally for a quick fry. Or fresh tomatoes. Tried many different knives and knife sharpeners and have finally settled on the dexter line of knives. I got them as from salmon fishing. They replaced the wooden handles rapala fillet knives I've used for so long.
They have an excellent blade and are easy to get/keep very sharp. High carbon is responsible for that. Can get them for under $50 IIRC. I like the medium breaking type knife most people use for salmon. The only thing I wish is at times, I wish it had gratons on the blade. I used henkels twins before, but this beats them all for ease and price.
Now the key...sharpening them. Diamond rods were used, but they are mainly for touch up....but even then, the quality of them has gone down in recent years. Been searching for something non frankensteiny, complex or cumbersome and came up with the horl 2. That is one idiot proof thing as it'll magnetically hold the blade at the desired angle and all as you have to do is roll a mini barrel along the edge. Really worth it. I use the 15* side and get VERY sharp blades in no time. I have one of each in an RV when I go fishing for filleting and one at home for cooking. Well worth it.
There...a non affiliated commercial for a blade and sharpener. Can't figure out the 'better eating' thing though....
