I've toyed with the idea of wheel/tire covers but I'm questioning the benefits of having them.   In the grand scheme of things, I guess they're not all that large and cumbersome to store.  But given all the other stuff I carry, I really don't need one other thing to find room for.  
From what I'm told, they protect the tires from UV, which is a major enemy of these big ol black balls of rubber. But given the life expectancy of basically 5 years, is there really any benefit to covering them?
