to Elk Meadows RV Resort, 7523 ft elevation .

The drive through and up the Rocky Mountains is spectacular!!!!!

At Rocky Mt National Park. We were on a tour bus and it was great. But the line was at least 3 miles long to get into the park. Also you could have sit in that line for over an hour and get to the entrance gates and be REFUSED if you did not have a reservation. You have to make a reservation if you want to visit the park between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. No reservation needed 3:00 pm

The park is over 12K feet and is the 10th oldest NP in the USA.

The building with the logs on the roof is the visitor center. They are there because the winds can reach 150 miles an hr in the winter. And the center can be completely buried with snow over the top of the roof.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the US Air-force. My grandson is in and stationed in Washington state, my brother was in, plus a bunch of cousins that were Navy Pilots, one a Top Gun. Me I spent most of my time jumping out of airplanes in the 101 AB Screaming Eagles.

These shots were at the the Air Force World War II Museum. Out of the 50 planes there they ALL still fly, except one hull.

Hey Neal you think you can fly one of these bad boys????

Well the Tour continues. We are headed to Riverside Camp Ground in Scottsbluff Nebraska. But before we left we visited 126th annual Frontier Days in Cheyenne Wyoming. They have a huge Parade down town. Then went to their Rodeo, that was an absolute blast. And yep it was my FIRST RODEO

On are way to Scottsbluff in Nebraska we stopped at the Oregon Ruts. These are deep ruts cut into the limestone that thousands of covered wagons ran through. When headed west the settlers had to pass through specific areas.

Then we stopped at registration cliff. There are thousands of names and years carved into the soft stone as they moved west.. Some as early as 1793.

Then a quick stop at Fort Laramie, a central trading post and US Fort in the expansion of the west.
