Well another Sanicon hose failure less than a year. Replaced 2/2021 purchasing from Newmar parts and failed 2/2022 and replaced under parts warranty. Failures were located close to the end where it connects to the pump discharge so last year I decided to add PVC to remove the bend thinking it would relief the strain. You can see from the picture it didn’t help😡. So here I go again removing the protective cover and putting it on the new hose hoping this one lasts more than a year.

I eliminated the possibility of that inside the coach at least. I plumbed the Sanicon discharge to the outside with a Camlock fitting that attaches the hose. A little work but I'm glad I did it.

Only on my second hose in 7 years with the Sanicon with crossed fingers (and cover sleeve). It would seem these hoses could be made a little more robust, especially for the price. As far as plumbing it to the outside as scottramer did, doesn't that negate the main advantage of the system, which is keeping the hose connected and sealed, hence the name "Sani"? I understand the ends can be capped, but if I had to disconnect and reconnect every time, I think I'd go back to a stinky slinky.

Another question, since NWIP's hose is pin holed near the end, can the end be removed anyway and reattached after removing a few inches of line?

This is we’re all three of the failures have occurred. I thought by rerouting from the discharge outlet the stress on the hose end would help.
As far as removing end and reattaching I believe would only be temporary solution. There is quite a bit of movement in hose under pressure.

I did find replacement on Amazon
Thetford 97521 Hose Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076FYD6JS/?tag=rvf01-20

I know, those hoses really seem stressed when the pump is fired up. Since they upped the pump and hose size over the original Sanicon, it seems they should have made the hose a little larger or toned down the pump speed/pressure.

Well update on another failure, this time got just under 2 years. Same failure point again, using rescue tape until replace comes.

Interesting enough when I called Newmar to order they now offer the hose with the sleeve, however they want $400. I elected to get one without for $210, I chose to purchase from Newmar since they warranty for 12 months😢

MobileMustHave is a better place for sanicon items:

Well thanks @Neal, your a day late and now I’m 100 dollars short😀. I’ll keep for next time because I’m sure there’s another failure in my future.

Just had ours blow out on the 3rd stop of the trip. Even with the protective sleeve ended up with pin holes. I tried to repair with rescue tape and used 3/4 of a roll to try to stop it, then the hose separated from the molded end. :poop: Almost looked like that scene from the movie RV. Luckily I had a slinky on board to use. Ordered a new hose from Amazon just to get guaranteed delivery on time. The way that hose expands when under pressure has always been an issue for me. Couldn't they tone down the pump a little or make the hose 1/4" larger to help with the longevity?

I recently had a leak at the same location in the hose but it was a bit more catastrophic. The cuff nearly came completely detached from the hose. I had remotely activated the valves / Sanicon and when I next exited the coach it was immediately evident (from the smell) that I had an issue. Fortunately (for me) the Sanicon discharge is hard plumbed to the outside of the coach.

I removed the cuff and reinstalled the Banjo fitting onto the hose. I’ve been monitoring the hose and a few weeks ago found that it was happening again on the other end of the hose. Once again I removed the cuff. For now I’m avoiding using the Sanicon. Trying to decide whether to get another Thetford brand hose, install new cuffs on the existing hose, leave it as is, or get a different type of hose (ie. pool). No rush as I’m parked for the next 5 months and I’m not using Sanicon.

Warranty failure events at 11 months a few times can reap rewards :) Need a link to a set of sharp pins?

Rescue tape didn’t work for me either. Pin hole turned into tear. If using tape maybe don’t turn on pump and just let bypass / gravity drain work.

I now carry a spare hose stored on side of washing machine cabinet. MMH ships fast though. Think same day.

Given the age of my coach, I'm sure I'm due. Just purchased one from Amazon to keep my washing machine cabinet company. :)

Got first replacement hose from Newmar in 2021 for $160, then warranty in 2022. Now $210 (inflation) so this is only the second one I’ve paid for in 4 years. I do have a backup which I occasionally use when I need extra length. Failure always within 3-4 inches of the end

Knock on wood but I am on my original hose going on 4 years this month and no leaks. I can't swear, but I think it might be due to the sleeve that I put on mine in the beginning. I got it on Amazon and it's actually used for large wiring looms. It is 1.5" but it doesn't quite let the hose completely expand. So I'm thinking that taking some of that pressure off of it might help. It's a little bit of a pain to get on but I think well worth it, here's the Amazon link.

I've used the same sleeve for the past 4 years or so. It's been on two hoses now so far. Still had pin holes and end separation.

Oh great now I'm jinxed LOL🙃

Let me get this straight...

You buy an expensive product (well, to me it's expensive), it breaks in a short time frame. You replace the broken part.

The replacement part breaks in a short time frame. You replace the broken part.

The replacement part breaks in a short time frame. You replace the broken part.

Ever hear the old saying about doing the same thing repeatedly but expecting different results?
