We're about to embark on a long trip, and we're still looking for a ladder because Bob is fixated on this one that he saw a guy using in a RV park last fall... he thought that was the safest ladder he had ever seen.
He said it was not a homemade job but obviously manufactured, and we can't find anything like it.
With Bob's direction, I drew a picture is best I could. has anyone ever seen one like this? we wish he had asked the guy where he got it.

Buy a stabilizer and cut the top two rungs off.

Safest ladders I have found had someone else's body on them 🙂.

It’s called a Step-N-Safe ladder extension.

WHAT??? $166+ for 2 pipe extensions and U bolts?
You could make it for 1/10th of that!
Yeah, I was thinking it's getting ridiculous. Costs more than the ladder.

This is what he (Bob, btw) described to me (Paula): so it looks like a stabilizer on the side is $40 and they think that those two poles are worth 240 more???!!!

How far do you want to go for safety? 😆

I would put just the stabilizer at the third rung and cut the top two off, easy peasy.

I think these "safety" railing are cumbersome, at the least. And, for many of use, the extra length would prohibit carrying them in the bay.

I agree, for the $200, I'd be looking at a completely different ladder perhaps with stabilizers built in. Having worked off a ladder for my career, I'm confident to "step off" a ladder onto a roof so long as my footing is stable. And, THE BEST for that is to have someone "foot" my ladder...case closed...as I get on and off the roof.

Here is version from Little Giant, which seems a little better a clamp on.

and for when the strap breaks an air bag suit.
