And thenโ€ฆ She looks up. โ€œI need documentation showing the weight of the vehicle.โ€
That's insane! I registered my coach in FL about 6 months ago, did vin verification in Hilton Head and then drove down to the nearest DMV and was never asked that. How frustrating. But I have to tell yah, somehow you manage to turn every difficult situation into a fantastic story. ๐Ÿฅน

The boy can turn a phrase. :)

Yes, it was quite exasperating.

I registered the London Aire a few years ago, and it was a piece of cake. When the clerk asked for the weight, I simply pulled up the specifications from the Newmar website and showed them to her. Case closed.

This time, however, no amount of reasoning was going to get the job done. She was determined that I pull in the slides, bring up the jacks, air up the suspension, and head off in search of that elusive weigh station. Apparently, Florida had decided that trusting the manufacturer was no longer an acceptable strategy.

Anyhow, guess who's here at the park? Steve and Debbie Matthews. The were parked next to you at last years Hoots. Nice people. Steve said for me to tell you "Hi". :) So Hi!

Last summer we learned that the Nevada DMV requires documentation of all name changes. Simple, you may think.

They required certified copies of all marriage and divorce certificates from three states even though our current names are actually what we started with.

We got it done on the second hundred-mile each-way trip up to the DMV in Ely.

Back to Florida...

In around 1980 I bought a very small inflatable boat, a Zodiac. I got tired of spinning it in circles with one paddle so I bought a 1.5 hp motor for it.

Th ever-helpful mullet sheriff David let me off with a warning and told me to get it registered, so I was off to the DMV in Tallahassee.

All was going well until they demanded a builder's certificate. A _builder's certificate_. They could not be made to understand that we were talking about a six-foot rubber blowup boat.

At some point I went out, got the Zodiac out of the car, and proceeded to blow it up in the DMV lobby.

Got my tag.
