If this reply is for me, I specifically said I have never been. But it looks interesting. I might have a look one day.

No, not for you. I always think south of Phoenix. I know about the California one but I don't do off-road. I thought the clarification was good for anyone the mention put the adventure on the map.

A street legal side-by-side/ATV is not legal in every state. A 2 door YJ, TJ, JK, JL Wrangler or KL Cherokee Trailhawk would be the best option for straight forward flat towing ease of use. From my experience, the easiest DIY and least expensive to set up are the YJ, TJ and JK (flat tow rated winch bumpers cost less than base plates). There's many used for sale, some already set up for flat towing, although, the manual versions are like hunting Unicorns.

I was staying at Imperial dam LTVA. The "vehicle" I was in was a 4 seat Polaris 1000 turbo that ran about $55000. I guarantee you and anyone else that a Subaru did not go where I went. No, you cannot summit the peak without climbing, but.....any sufficiently "modified" vehicle is not a stock vehicle. I would love to watch your Jeep attempt what we did. You can traverse the normal trails and such, but there are places you are not going. I have a Jeep also, and I went on a guided ride last weekend here in Tenn. There were places that I said, "Oh hell no" and they were mild by comparison.

Then why does the entire group I rode with in Cali and AZ go to Moab and the mighty 5 as soon as the weather heats up in Yuma? They ride plenty up there.

Width rules apply on many designated trails. Some are fine for any motor vehicles. Some require street legal.

Equipment should be chosen based on requirements is all I am saying. It's equivalent to buying a two wheel drive Jeep to off road, to restricted!

Perhaps you should have your friends have a look at the rules and regs.

But what ever. You are happy with your side by. I am happy with my Jeep. Like I said before. It has taken me everywhere I have wanted to go in comfort.

We had a class A and pulled a Jeep Gladiator (pickup) behind. It worked well and was safely below the 5,000 pound tow limit of the RV, had A/C, four-wheel drive and a comfortable drive. It towed like a dream.

Please accept my apology. The way you were reacting to the comments made covering this thread led me to believe you owned a side by. Reviewing the thread allowed me to understand that you were just a passenger in a side by.

I think I have made my point so I will just let you and others continue hashing the virtues of of roading.
