I am extremely disappointed and disturbed as to what I'm seeing at campgrounds lately. I've been traveling quite a bit the past 6 weeks and I'm seeing dog poo everywhere! People are NOT picking up after their dogs and as a dog owner myself I'm concerned that campgrounds may change their rules. I had a campground I just left that had very strict guidance on dogs in that we could only take them to a small area which was not close to my campsite so I actually left a day early. Ironically on the vacant campsite next to me, left side, is a picnic table in a gravel bed. All around that table area in the gravel was dog poo. I'm at a KOA now and as I walk Elli I'm seeing dog poo everywhere. Bad on the campground for not cleaning this up? Maybe. Horrendous that dog owners are not picking up their pet's poo.

People, stop this! Have some respect for others and the campground. Pick up after your pets! Please!
This is very sad but is showing how society is moving to " I don't care" mode. It is disturbing as the same people that leave dog Poo will be up in arms when dogs are not allowed in the campgrounds.

My wife and I are about to begin our RV life and expect to have a couple of tag a longs with us. Please keep the campgrounds free of fecal oxidation.

We just returned from a 6week outing with stays in close to 15 camps and experienced the same thing and said the same thing to each other. Some camps even have free poo bags and disposal receptacles on post very close together and some dog owners will not even bother to use them. Sometimes it seems the bigger the dog the less caring the owner!

Asking irresponsible visitors to suddenly become responsible when they drive through the gate is going be met with disappointment. I have a vested interest in finding a solution to this problem as I love pets and I'm about to become an RV Park owner/host

I don't want to decline pets, quite the opposite. I want to pamper your pets and for them to have a wonderful experience when they visit the park. But for the benefit of all my visitors, I can not tolerate irresponsible pet owners. As our park is limited to 8 visitors at a time, it should be fairly easy to identify the violators. Question is, how do you deal with them once you know who the violators are?

A system of fines is problematic. So is tossing them out and dealing with the negative/bogus online reviews that will most surely follow.

It's a problem that I've been wrestling with for awhile now.

The KOA I called the office to discuss uses a system of warnings. If you identify a problem camper a warning notice should suffice. I would also offer a system for you to note problem campers for when they may try to come back later and you need to know they have been banned etc.

Or, “Pets are welcome here; owners who don’t pick up after them are not!”

$50 fine for failing to pick up after your pets.

Telling them at check in along with signs that violators will be charged 25.00 cleaning fee

@Jim Here is a link to some discussion on a campground pet policy requiring a dog DNA sample. As expected comments on both sides of the approach. If it's something that peaks your interest you might contact the campground to see how it has worked out.

Just talked to a couple that work at a CG in TX for the winter and they mentioned a CG they stayed at with the following policy

Report someone who does not pickup after their pet and offender will be asked to leave. Any remaining days they had will be credited to your reservation. This also applied to people throwing cigarette butts on the ground.
