My son gave my 12 y/o grandson a drone yesterday afternoon as an early Christmas present. I’d say he had that thing lost in under 10 minutes. And this was in wide open flat farm country. They went out looking in a Polaris Ranger EV (converter to Li-ion…) but hadn’t found it by the time I left, which was around around dark.

Not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing here?
Yeah, I guess if you aren't knowledgeable with FPV drones, it probably doesn't make much sense. And it doesn't help that there is no sound. But the video is a short clip of a drone flying up to the open window of my truck, and then flying through the window.

No big deal, unless your the guy flying the drone, knowing the drones fate is in your hands and inches away from impending doom.

Depending on the type of drone there are ways of finding it. Such as if he is using a DJI the controller or phone has a map and it should know the last location. Probably need to google it.

Got an email from DJI that they were offering $90 off the new DJI RC Motion 2 controller from my Avata purchase. On top of my DJI credits the total was about $100 off so I couldn't pass it up. Just got this, haven't used it yet. The other one will go to the DJI FPV and the new one will pair to the Avata.

I've been wondering about these VR type goggles, but doesn't that fly in the face of the FAA rules that you must keep visual site of your drone at all times?

Tnedator, yes the goggles do legally limit you to a buddy situation, but I am sure that is routinely ignored in the drone world. I have seen some of Neals videos he has posted up (really fun to watch) where he does have a spotter with him.

My spotter often sheds, but that's beside the point...

Haahaa @Neal was in pretty much the same situation. New controller came in yesterday, now I'll have to unload the old one on ebay or marketplace.

You could always just pickup a DJI FPV and use it with that? Jus'sayin...

Got some time in with the DJI FPV today, soon I'll get the Avata out. Batteries don't like sitting and need to be discharged to keep them healthy but that was just an excuse to go do some flying. Getting an itch to try the DJI FPV in manual mode but won't do it near houses, etc.

Anyone else getting some drone time in?
