Assuming a rig is prepped for solar, is it cheaper/better to buy a rig with a solar package installed already, or to buy one without it (which seems to be cheaper normally) and buy an aftermarket/manufacturer package and install afterwards? If the latter, what are some good solar systems/brands...
I have a electrical hitch wire, a backup camera, a solar panel wire and the rv wire all going to the positive and negative battery terminals. Can I splice all the positive and negative wires together and have one positive and negative battery connection?
So here is my story and I'm sticking to it.
This year has been interesting on the solar front for me. The amount of solar I have installed has gone up and down through the years. I started with one 230 watt panel many years ago. Then it went to 1150 a few years later. I kept that for about 5...
Has anyone done the conversion from Magnum to Victron. Am considering this since the Magnum is just trash and does not work nicely with my solar and Lifepo4 batteries.
Welcome. I purchased a Kodiak Ultra-lite 201QB new in 2021. I have put over 12,000 miles on it. I had an issue with the solar panel not wired correctly. Other than that and some minor exterior lights problems it works good.
Solar setting on battery amp hours. When batteries are hooked in parallel do you set the amp hours on solar setting to a single battery amp hour or to equal the total of both amp hours together?
I'm 100% Victron now. Had Solar Energy Systems in Nappanee do my install.

...at some future date pick up 4 more Victron 330ah batteries that I'm prewired for as the price dropped significantly this year.
All is great. Please consider using Solar Energy Systems in Nappanee, IN for your solar, battery, etc. needs. Outstanding service and support!

your inverter pulls 12vdc from your batteries and feeds the fridge with 120 vac. You have a balancing act between fridge (and other) loads - battery capacity - solar input - and generator use.
I'm in Casa Grande until April and last year electricity was a bit expensive. I didn't use solar as there was discussion back then about electricity being cheap, not the case here. This year I'm using my tools via Magnum ME-BMK and Victron stack to use solar from 9 AM until 4:30 PM. This allows...
Just looked at a 2019 Sporstcoach srs365 RB that I am in the process of buying. I found a receptacle on the side that says "SOLAR". Do I have to add anything if I want to buy a panel? I've heard about control panels and that, but never paid much attention. Not that we do a lot of boondocking...
...All other LightShip demands on the high voltage battery, including the biggest user the HVAC system, can easily be offset by the combination of solar and the PowerBoost inverter generator. In motion during the day, the solar panels cover all 12 volt requirements of the LightShip and keep the...
Looks good. It may not have a controller, it probably has a 10A fuse and wiring sized to the 120-150 Watts of solar it's designed to handle. The port should be wired directly to the batteries.
Attention to the roof wouldn't be a bad idea as you go forward.
Is it 30 or 50 amp?
...stolen from different storage facilities around Houston, we recently downgraded to a smaller Coachman Spirit 2963BH.
This one came with a 100W solar panel preinstalled on the roof, and we attached the loose cables near the battery to the +\- poles as labelled.
What is required for the...
Hello
I need help with understanding on what parts I need to have solar power in my 2001 Coachman Pathfinder.
At the moment it runs on generator but I am looking foward to getting solar power and batteries when going to any national parks or places where generator is not allowed and there is no...
Grid failures, to include natural gas infrastructure, largely occurred because generating facilities were not hardened for catastrophic cold weather events. Many were undergoing seasonal maintenance shutdowns. It had zero to do with wind and solar, .
I have a 200W Renogy solar kit I'm thinking on adding to help with topping off the couch battery and running things during the day. I've read where adding a LI battery and DC-DC charger with mppt would be the way to go for this option. Keeping the Solar an independent system that I can "switch"...
