I've pulled a 35 ft. TT for years but I'm getting ready to trade the TT on a 42 ft. Forest River Sandpiper 5th wheel that I estimate will be around 14k loaded. My truck is a short/standard bed Chevy 3500 SRW with a low profile toolbox. I have to buy a hitch and I've been researching different...
I just got a 2019 Ram 2500 and had an Andersenhitch installed on a B&W turnover ball. I love the design and characteristics of the hitch, but I have one major problem. The landing gear on the fifth wheel much move the ENTIRE length of travel to hook up/ un-hook. I am hitting the stops in both...
Hey all, new to fifth wheels and need some advice. I tow a fifth wheel with an F250 (6'11" bed) equipped with a rota flex pin box and the Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel hitch. I put a Gator retractable bed cover on and the last two times my fifth wheel has gotten into the bed cover rail and...
We were owners of a Grand Design 22MLE and full timing. Now a medical issue has rerouted our path. I am a member over at GD Owners Forum with the same screen name.
I have a few accessories for sale shipping from North Houston, New Caney TX.
Andersen weight distribution hitch with anti-sway...
...(he's not a lumberjack or linebacker, lol) but since he hauls a good bit will want it outta there. I am hearing good things about the Andersenhitches but also folks mention noise. We don't have any experience with 5th wheelers but hubby is an excellent "backer-upper" of regular trailers...
A goosebox will be legal. Might require safety chains in some states. I have an Andersenhitch, but if I didn't I would go with the goosebox or the GenY hitch so the bed of the truck is usable without having to heft around a 200# hitch every time you wanted to use the bed of the truck.
I have an Andersen Ultimate that I use with a 2022 Chev. 3500HD SB. I pull a 16,000 toy hauler. I have had no issues with the hitch. I have seen a couple of pics. of failures, but any hitch will fail under the right circumstances. There have not been enough incidents that this has become a...
...the Andersen. I asked this same question over on Duramaxforum.com and a member provided a personal example, with pictures, of an Andersenhitch failure due to a sudden stop with no impact. I am going to go with the B&W Companion slider. Just trying to decide between the one that mounts in...
I know this is late, and I hope it all worked out for you.
I have the Andersen Ultimate, and it works and rides flawlessly, as you probably know by now. I like how clean it is, how easy it is to hitch and unhitch, and how dead easy it is to pull the hitch out of the truck when not towing...
I had above bed rails on my last pickup and they were a pain sometimes. Hard to slide anything into the bed with them, but overall not too much of an issue. I currently have the Curt goose neck hitch and use an Andersen Ultimate hitch. I have enough turning radius that I really don't need a...
The bad thing about the GN adapter is that most places will use that as an excuse to void the frame warranty. I have heard mostly good things about the Andersenhitch. There was some chatter about the frame of the hitch bending in adverse conditions, but I have no experience with it.
I use the Anderson hitch and find it very tight and no noise when installed according to directions. It is light (about 35#) and with a 3/4 inch socket and can removed and reinstalled is less than ten minutes. The turn over and the Andersen work great to together and leave a flat bed when...
I got a response this morning to the email I sent Andersen asking about the hitch failures. I thought I would attach a screenshot of it here for everyone to see. I'm sure what he is saying is true and mathematically it is a very small percentage of hitches that fail. But that
isn't enough to...
I hadn't thought of that. I'm sure any hitch can fail given the right circumstances. I guess the Andersen is just the only one I kept seeing pop up with failures. Particularly when having to stop suddenly (which could easily happen). I'll do a little more research on failures with other hitches.
I am using an Andersenhitch with a short bed Chevrolet Duramax and do not use a slider. I can get about 75+ degrees with it. I previously had a Reese with a slider, and I never used the slider in 18 years of use. You have to pay attention, but there is not many places you can't go with 75...
That's what I keep going back and forth about. The positive reviews far outweigh the negatives and I like you have also thought that if it was a serious safety issue then they wouldn't still be selling them or at least a recall would have been issued. But after seeing the pics of the hitch...
...under the 5th wheel jacks help . . You would have more leg length on the jacks then wouldn't you? We have always had trailers and have just placed an order for a 5th wheel . I have a 2016 Ram 2500 and I also will be using the Andersenhitch. A lot of people do use the 2500 Ram with no issues.
I asked about the warranty and they assured me it wouldn’t avoid the warranty. My brother in law had the same concerns about towing in the mountains but we will mostly be on state highways and state roads. We get the hitch for free so I’m gonna ask them about paying extra for an upgrade. This is...
...your payload of 3400. You are okay as far a total trailer weight, and if you load the truck light with only 2 passengers and maybe an Andersenhitch that weighs 35#, you won't be over useful load by very much. There are a lot of people out there that are towing a lot more with your same...
