Adding oasis transfer fluid?

Hey guys.

Since our rv was new, I have always had to add some fluid each year to my oasis. I have a larger NE-S model, but it’s routed the same as other models, with a reservoir by the engine. That is where I see the fluid being low. I have added about 3 gallons in the last 8 years, so it is not a lot…

I figured that the fluid is either boiling off, or the reservoir is overflowing when hot and then when it cools, it pulls it all back….. (Or both).

Does anyone ever have to add fluid, and if so, how often and how much?

Yes, I have to add fluid about once a year. I’ll add enough to take it from the minimum level to midway to the max line.

I add fluid I'm guessing annually, I have no indication of leaks.

Same here seemed to have to add a gallon or so a year which seems like a lot. I did have a very small seepage leak right around the connectors at the top of the boiler. (I would see the crusty dried up fluid and or some moisture) and I sorted that out with two wrenches to hold the boiler fitting while tightening the hose nut.

I keep thinking we have an air bubble in the system and then when it’s used a great deal - we have been living in our coach on the driveway, for 11 days because we had no power at the house due to the wildfires in the in the Santa Monica mountains. I found the reservoir just about empty when it had been above the minimum line when we first moved out to the coach and yet I don’t see any leakage anywhere - in the bays, around the pumps, under the couch…. I did see a procedure a while back for purging the oasis boiler fluid lines using a bucket and an auxiliary pump which I guess at some point I’ll have to look into to see if my theory has any validity.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like what I am seeing is pretty normal…. And I just went out now (in the light snow) and the reservoir is full and there was even some spilled on the ground as it appears it overflowed (I added some fluid the other day as it was empty).

I also have no signs of leaks.

And for those of you who need the yellow century fluid, camping world seems to have the best price…. $30 per gallon.

I must have something going on. I added about a ½ gallon the first year and I've never had to add any since.

Yup added fluid periodically, no signs of leaks, and the unit definitely doesn’t like it when it’s low. I think the water evaporates out of the transfer fluid mix over time, concentrating it, which accounts for the darker color over time.
